Okay guys,

I've been out of it for a while, more than 2 years. Anyway, I got the bug pretty bad right now - and it's been recommded that I post on here, and all you regional pilots will set me straight.

Anyway, I'm 28, married, no kids, in the Detroit area, 4-year aviation degree (Purdue), 1200TT 150ME, 100 Turbine. I haven't flown for pay in 2 years.

What's your 2 cents on whether the regionals are worth it?

Am I competitive for a regional spot? If so, who?
Does Pinnacle require a contract? If so, how long?

Any other BS you want to contribute, please do.

If you were current with those times, you should be able to get an interview. Many get in with a lot less. In your case, you'll need to get current and fly for a few months or so. The multi time is stale at this point. Some regionals require a minimum amount of time within the last 6 months or so.

IF Pinnacle is your fate, then inquire with them and tell them your situation and what you would need to do to get that call.

Pinnacle should take you. I've flown with a few FOs that were hired with nothing but 90-day landing and intrument currency. Get that and you should be good to go. With 1200 TT, I'm sure they'll be happy to have you. Since you live in DTW, then you'd be one of the few guys that might actually be happy here.

You need to get current though. I've tried to get a good friend of mine in that has about 6000 hours but like you he hasn't flown in over two years and the recommendation from my friends that are in charge of pilot interviews is that he needs to get some sort of recent experience.
Try to see if you can hook up with somebody at any local airport that flies single pilot twin flying checks at night or something like that and try to tag along for a month or so. Then definitely yes. But out of currency? They don't go for that, My friend is in the Caribbean now getting some flying under the belt before he applies again.
I hope this helps. PM me if you have any specific questions.

Speaking of Pinnacle, where do new hires usually get based? I have an interview coming up so I would appreciate any info. Thanks.

DTW and MEM can be awarded right out of training. MSP have openings from time to time. If it is MSP you want, you might not get it right out of training but within a couple of months you should be able to get minne

people in my class that wanted Minny got it a few months after their initial award. Not too bad. Majority went to DTW.

what's the expectations for Pinnacle hiring in the future? Also, do they expect their pilots to sign a PFT contract commitment? How long is it? How much to break it?

Back when the company was Express I there was a PFT program but It is no longer in place. There are a couple of universities that give a CRJ training program with the opportunity of an interview and their guys make it sound like the job is a sure thing but it isn't. They go through the interview like everybody else.
With regard to our future? Who knows. That is the million dollar question and nobody but the head honcho's at NWA know for sure what they have in plans for the "red haired step children"

I would encourage people to work here. More people employed the less I have to work. :)

Not necessarily...just means more drops would be approved....or more sick calls
