Today we had a light on the overhead panel burn out at an outstation. I didnt think it was safe to fly with that light burned out, so I wrote it up and unfortunately we were late by an hour. It also delayed the next 2 flights as well. I felt much safer with that 1 light working though and I am sure my passengers and company appreciated what i did because safety is the number one guiding principle

This is how the 'coming out' party works on FI. You make one statement with a single fact that can be cross checked by the company and, voila, I Fly Boxes = outed!

Don't worry though, we've all done it at one time or another.

Yeah I hear ya about the "letters of verbal warning" that show up via FedEx, those are all over in my file too. But this Captain im refering to was suspended for a couple of days for too many sick "days" in a revolving 12 months. So management has crossed the line and actually disciplined someone over sick calls. Which tells me they want pilots to fly sick and violate the FAR'S.

To date... no one has been suspended more than ONE day for violating the "attendance" policy. Each has been grieved, and the company response is in short.. "it is within management's rights" and they feel they have some case law from somewhere that supports it.

the company is hiding behind a policy that has the word attendance on it.. while every meeting for being absent is labeled "sick", while every discussion is about being "sick", while every memo is about what they want IF you are absent that you need to PROVE you are "sick" and don't worry.. if you were "sick" you are still subject to the attendance policy...

Pathetic.... Pinnacle pilots were just issued a memo regarding the holiday weekend, and that anyone calling in sick will need to bring a doctors note.

You gotta love it, management treats us like 2nd graders. Anyone who is forced to bring in a doctors note should write the expense for the doctor visit and get the company to reimburse it! The company is forcing you to see a doctor (to get a doctor sick note), so THEY should pay for it.

Pinnacle managmeent (Phildo, CS, Doug 'the Barney' , etc) are all pathetic-worthless-scumbags.

Per the contract, if they require a doctors note, they are required to PAY for it.
Although according to a memo written by someone on directors row. They will only pay for the "co-pay"..

this is not true, they will pay for whatever the charge is, but they will complain if it is more than $10.00...

we once had a guy who actually went to see a specialist in France and had the Doc note to prove it... while the company complained, they actually had no position to. Unfortunately that pilot did not expense the company for all the travel related charges for the Doc visit, I wish he would have.. now that would have been funny to see.. they wanted "proof" and he actually got it..

Don't ask me, ask those MEM based guys who are pus$ies. Not all of them are, but the boys of the Mississippi Flying Club are.

I think the correct term is "northern mississippi flying club" :D

not all of them are that bad, only those that have badges that allow them free reign over at corporate. A few of them are also the same that have yet to miss a Chirstmas Party, even when the other domiciles could not have one due to "budget issues".

Just browse the airlinkpilots forum, and you will quickly find the pro-company pus$ies. :D

Not looking for an argument. Just stating facts.

Bunch of pro-company pus$ies who don't have a spine. Mostly, the Northern Mississippi flying club idiots.
