Waiting to push back early this AM from DTW, I heard a flagship transmit on ground that they had hit a tug.

When asked if they needed paramedics, the response was, "crash fire rescue please". Nearly half an hour later taxiing past the B/C concourse there still seamed to be a lot of flashing lights and hoopla.

Hope everyone is alright. Here's where I ask about "the deets"...

A tug belonging to the another hit the airplane as they were about to turn in to the gate. Ramper got a few stitches in the back of his head and was back at the airport in a few hours to do paperwork. Crew never saw the tug until the thud. The tug caused a fuel leak from the aircraft which caused the whoopla.

It was dark, raining with fog. Airplane wont be back for a few weeks.

Yeah it was kind of a nasty morning there. Glad to hear everyone was alright, hell of a way to start your day though.

Saw all the up-close photos from our base manager. Looks like quite a bit of damage. The Comair ramper is lucky to walk away.

The Comair ramper is unlucky in the fact that, after the paperwork is completed, he will not have a job.

Also, I just wanted the throw the words "need the deets" in here to meet the "deets" quota for a thread of this type.

Let's all just relax. We know, we have to blame someone. It is our culture to place blame, right? After that we have to figure out who is the best regional. ALPA is not sure at this point. Once we figure out who is the best regional between the two and who is the fallguy between blue collar workers, only then will we figure out who has the dumbest pilot group, right?

F, it. Let's just blame PCL. No, let's blame CMR.

I know, whoever can manage the English language the best will win. Yea, that's it. Ok, so let's blame........ALPA.

Must've been a ramper who is not very happy with the DL/NWA merger.

As far as his job---was getting pushed back in RIC, ramper had so much torque on the nosewheel that the hyd. actuators/nw steering, etc was all inop by the time he was done. $30k+ mistake. Then his tug jumped the towbar and slid sideways into the front right side of the plane. Was whisked away for DOT drug testing/paperwork.... 3 weeks later did a RIC turn again and low and behold... same ramper is there, not working a tug, but still had a job.

Did they make him the new ramp manager?
