Northwest Airlines is boosting its flights out of Milwaukee for the sixth time in less than two years, using regional jets.

On June 9, Northwest plans to begin twice-daily service from Milwaukee to Denver.

Northwest will also increase its service to several cities from Milwaukee, adding one daily flight to New York (LaGuardia), Boston and Detroit and two flights a day to Kansas City, Mo.

As of June, Northwest will offer up to 38 all-jet flights a day from Milwaukee, serving 13 destinations.

All of the new flights will be operated by Northwest's regional partner Pinnacle Airlines, flying Canadair regional jets that can seat up to 50 passengers.

While Eagan-based Northwest has said it expects flying by its mainline jets to be flat this year — the airline has announced plans to ground 30 jets and idle as many as 930 mechanics — it is still projecting about a 33 percent increase in flying by its regional carriers, primarily Memphis-based Pinnacle.

As of the end of 2004, Northwest had 117 Canadair regional jets in its fleet and 22 on order.

Northwest's expanded service in Milwaukee is part of its Heartland strategy to boost service — and business — in seven Midwest markets where the carrier figures it has a good customer base and solid opportunities for growth.

The other six markets are Kalamazoo and Grand Rapids, Mich., Indianapolis, Green Bay and Madison, Wis., and Omaha, Neb.

In 2002, Milwaukee generated about $100 million in domestic revenue for Northwest. (Its total revenue that year was more than $9 billion.) The airline has not provided later guidance about its sales in that city, however.

In 2004, Northwest had a 21 percent share of Milwaukee passenger traffic, behind Midwest Airlines and Midwest Connect, 40 percent.

Northwest shares closed Thursday at $6.90, off 19 cents.

rumors

There is no EMB-170 order, you can take that to the bank. We are getting the 139 CRJ's and that is it for the time being. There is alot of talk, but not EMB-170 or 190 orders for that matter.

The emb-170s are coming and they will be operated under a separate certificate.

once agian

Once again that is just rumors. Nothing has been done. There is talk. Talk is talk and just talk and that's it.

Dude, its a little more than just talk. Apparently the order has already been placed. I have a buddy that went down to pick up a new AC and saw an emb-170 in airlink colors in the hanger.

Whatever

Apparently pinnacle has found a way to get around the scope clause and f over the mainline.

training,

We needs names, name of this place that your buddy "went down to"..., and/or photos, etc.... I'm seriously willing to jumpseat to this place, at minute's notice if you give me the exact location. My bags are packed and camera is loaded. Just give me a 3 letter identifier.

Otherwise, I'm willing to suspect you're here to start a flame thread being that you have 500 hrs and are a relatively new pinnacle FO, who will believe anything, anyone tells you.

Uh and these will be operated by Air Wisconsin too as part of thier deal with US AIR. Which has also a lot to do with the price of rice in china. whatever

another Friday comes and goes and no big announcement from XJ. I have not heard any rumors of a big announcement from 9E.

The only thing about 9E I have heard is that you probably will not be getting all 140, I mean 139, I mean 138 CRJ's.

These orders have apparently been converted to the new emb-170s.

Any Pinnacle guys care to comment on how your loads have been out of MKE. It seems like ours (skyway) and ME are fairly decent recently.

Just curious

So assuming you're with Pinnacle, and you're buddy who went down to pick up a new aircraft (CL-65?) which is made my Bombardier in Montreal?, what is Embraer doing in Montreal building EMB-170s? ??? oh wait, Bombardier is building the EMB-170 kinda like an outsourced operation?

Consider this game, set, and match...

70-SEAT JET NEGOTIATIONS UPDATE (3/25/05)
As part of the Bridge Agreement, ALPA and NWA management agreed to engage in negotiations to develop a structure whereby NWA would obtain 70-seat jets to be flown by NWA pilots. To date, there have been only preliminary discussions as both sides have exchanged outlines of ideas. We presented management with our outline in July 2004 and received management's outline in January 2005. There have been no talks since January because the MEC Negotiating Committee has focused its efforts on the pilot pension plan and implementation issues of the Bridge Agreement.

Recently, it has been brought to our attention that some employees in the "NWA family" are spreading rumors that our MEC Negotiating Committee is currently having 70-seat negotiations with management and we are going to give up the right to fly 70-seaters. This is completely false. NWA pilots bargained and paid for the right to fly 70-seat aircraft so if NWA purchases these jets, NWA pilots will fly them. Once again, no discussions have taken place since January. We will communicate any future 70-seat negotiations to you promptly and factually. Please remember that ALPA's 70-seat small jet proposal was published in the July 2004 Across The Table. This publication, along with all MEC publications, can be viewed at www.nwaalpa.org/pilots .

I believe that your information is flawed.

My buddy doesn't work for Pinnacle. Embraer is located in Brazil. This is why the emb-jets are called jungle jets. Anyone who knows anything knows that.

Apparently you don't take sarcasm very well.

And go to www.nwaalpa.org , click on the HOTLINE link, and read.

I don't know who to be more disappointed at.

- "Training" for being such a flamethrowing weasel

or,

- The rest of you for arguing with him.

Training, you sound just like a Pan Am guy that paid his way to a job. Look up the Thread.."Another PFT....Wft" and see how much we like you. You need to stop hanging with the RUSSIAN and just tune the next freq in!

Thank you, dointime!

I'm trying to tell others about the "Training" guy.

He's full of BS on ALL the threads he has replied to so far. From a previous thread, it appears that he was a GIA passenger-paying for the F/O seat and got hired at Pinnacle.

I seriously doubt he flies for Pinnacle.

Training: 503 hours TT...

His time breakdown:

From 0-50 hours: Private Pilot certificate program, Flight Simulator 2000.

From 50-400 hours: all the other ratings, Flight Simulator 2002

400-503 hours: on Flight Simulator 2004.

Training, go fly another MS FS 2004 flight on the CRJ from DTW to NRT, but make sure you check the "unlimited fuel" option, else, you *might* not make it.
