Tonight, pinnacle had a conference call for pilots. Phil stated that the only thing that would keep colgan from operating jets in the future would be economic sense. If something changes or "goes wrong" in the future, management could award new jet flying to colgan and leave the pinnacle pilots that built this company in the dust.

What does "go wrong" mean? Pilots asking for average pay, work rules or retirement? A strike? Bad feelings between the union and phil? A bad chinese dinner? Or maybe just contract negotiations.

Pinnacle now has there gayjet\freedom\bigsky.

I would like to hear from our union soon. I know they are doing their best. The past events in our industry show us that we need to fight this to the END.

We're waiting for the full briefing from ALPA Legal right now. We should get it within the next few days. At that point we will be more open to discussing things. Until then we would prefer to keep things close to the vest.

The best part was the 15 seconds of dead silence while Phil tried to collect himself. :smash: Beautiful. That FO drinks for free from now on whenever I'm around.
 
I have to hand it to him for asking the questions...it was priceless...I know that FO and he has already gone through this same thing at TSA

They step over a dollar to pick up a penny. Between increased attrition, future recruiting difficulty and low morral it would seem more expensive than just paying us what our peers get. What a joke. I have tried not to take it personally, but Phils lies are over the top. Imagine the power to make 1250 people suffer for a bigger bonus. I could not do that to people whose sweat and time away from family help make this company a success.

It would be one thing to stall negotiations with halfway decent pay and QOL, but our FO package is slave labor.

Don't assume that the statements from a few guys on this message board are representative of the entire Colgan pilot group.

thats uncalled for man. Phil talks out of both sides of his mouth obviously. He clearly stated on our conference call that we would be an all prop operator and that jets didn't make sense for us.

I guess this is the beginning of the whip saw he promised wouldn't happen.

We can’t just quit and go to another regional for you because Phil had a bad cheese sandwich. We have bills to pay, are from our bases, (at least I chose CJC for that reason) and if history repeats itself, we will be stapled to the bottom of you and all of us 9L'ers will be screwed. Let me echo the sentiments of the other Colgan pilots that responded to what "Smarta$$ said. I am not going to be a party to another "Go-Jets" fiasco either and I don't think that the majority of Colgan pilots want to either.
Perhaps, your management team purchased Colgan because they figured that we would have the very attitude that "Smarta$$" spoke of. The majority of Colgan pilots have used Colgan as a stepping-stone in the tradition of the old commuter airline days. Delta screwed us all when they let Comair bring on the CRJ in 1992, and invented scope vice insisting any turbojet powered aircraft be flown at the mainline. Thus the lines have been blurred and payscales went down the proverbial toilet. It was a HUGE miscalculation, but like the old saying, "hindsight is always 20/20".
I think that the whole situation is very sad, because you have two groups of very hard-working, career oriented individuals being underminded for nothing more than $$$. Ethics, moral standards and fair play seem to have been misplaced in the airline industry's rapid fall to the bottom of the barrel for where anyone would want to work after spending the time, effort and money required to jump through all the hoops; i.e. college, flight training, crappy first couple jobs, etc...
I can confidently say that the vast majority of Colgan Air pilots don't have a "f-u, I got mine" attitude where the Pinnacle pilots are concerned. We are both innocent victims of Corporate greed, reckless ambition and falsoe bravado. Let's hope that together we can find some peace to make a logical and thoughtful decision on how to proceed in the future.

SOOOOOOOOO, As you fly your little jet (originally purchased by NWA and leased to yoy by one of our little leasing company buddies) and fly routes that used to be mainline routes, you are complaining how another carrier might take YOUR flying. Thats priceless. Pinnacle scope, now thats funny.

Get a frickin clue.

If the feeders for NWA are going to continue to take mainline flying, then I want the cheapest pilots flying them. More money for NWA. he days of trying to get the regionals pay up has failed, so now we need to get it low to make more profit sharing, etc. Maybe then, pilots won;t be willing to fly for such crap wages/benefits.

Just because you gave up your scope (which allows pinnacle to fly redtails) doesn't mean they shouldn't fight for theirs.

Sorry, but we won't be giving away our scope rights like you did. We don't view any flying "beneath" us. I guess we're just funny like that.

I don't know your group of pilots at all, just as much as you don't know us at all. We are not plane stealers, route takers, or subjugates of each other. We are pilots and we need to act professional and be stand up in this time of again I shall say sh!T. Hang in there and let us not use this BS site to convey or spread even more half-hearted rumors. It is getting out of control.

Don't forget to shoot your neighbors dogs when they bark before 8 am! I love doing that! Except every week they buy a new one; man when are they going to learn!

Pricks like you are why my career expectations are shot.

We didn't steal your flying, you gave it away because you didn't have the intestinal fortitude and foresight of past professional airline pilots.

Hurry up and retire (at 60) so some of us with balls can try to fix the mess you created.
