Does anyone has any information as far as how many pink slips or failed check rides the airlines allow us to have on our record?? So far I have four disapprovals since I first started flying. I hate talking about them on interviews. But we all have to be honest and explain them.
Your replies will be appreciated, thanks.

guess that is hard to say. I know a lot of people that have gotten on with one or two failed checkrides. Almost everyone fails a checkride at some point weather its a PC or any of the other checkrides. I guess that depends on how many checkrides you have had and which ones were failed. Airlines want to know you can pass their checkride so just be ready to explain what happened and why it happened and what was learned from it.

I pinked my IFR ride and have never been asked about it in 5 interviews. Don't worry about it, just don't make it a habit of busting check rides.

busted commercial (legitamately) and MEI (bull$hit) and it has never slowed me down even after explaining the reasons behind the failures

I got 2 pinks on my initial commercial. They were Complete Bullsh**. Got asked stuff that was not in the PTS. I never made it off of the ground. My instructor didnt even know some of the answers to the questions. This particular examiner had a grudge against my flight school. Needless to say he is not used anymore. Im really scared that this is going to hur me later on though. I heard that you are never suppose to say that its anyones fault but your own, so we will see what happens. I never had problems with checkrides before, but now im freaked about them.

Don't sweat it Ace. You're not the only one to bust your commercial ride. It won't hurt you a bit as long as you can explain what you learned from it and that you've done fine since. The main thing is not having a pattern of busted rides.

exactly - just don't make them sound like anybody's fault but your own (even though sometimes they are)

It doesn't matter that you've failed rides as long as you don't blame anyone but yourself during the interview (and act like you mean it) and you are able to demonstrate what you've learned from each experience.
I failed 3 rides, but I've been at a regional for 4 years.

You won't even have to explain it. Of all the interviews I did, no one ever asked me if I failed a checkride. Now thats not to say some won't, but I didn't encounter it.

Now a question I have, do checkrides taken early on (private, inst, multi etc) appear on the Pilot Records Improvement Act (I think that is it)?

I failed my commercial by almost destroying the airplane on a crosswind landing, and am curious if that could hurt my chances in any....oh wait, I already have a seniority number. Nevermind.:D

Moral of the story? No worries, a couple busts won't kill your career chances.

Don't sweat it. Almost everone busts or almost busts a ride in thier career. I busted my Commercial ME in the first ten minutes. I think I put the guy in a reeeal bad mood when I showed up with the wrong amount for his services...

Just be honest and explain it when asked. I think any interviewer only wants to hear that you learned from the experience.

Does any one know what type of info the faa provides the airlines besides which rides were failed? subjects failed or maneuvers or details like dumb ass busted airspace or landed on the wrong runway.

Just like most replys have said. Its all about your attitude at an interview. i think i have had a total of 7 pinks during my flying career. everyone makes mistakes, never focus on them , just keep going. always turn a negative into a positive. :)

When you fill out the paperwork with the airline to get your FAA info, you can ask for a duplicate copy to be sent to you.

It is one sheet of paper that states that you have no outstanding LOI's or Actions pending against your certificate. Also it shows what certificates you hold.

Nowhere does it state any amount of failures, or details of the failures. But that does not mean you can lie, because the FAA still has that info if the airline wants it.

I was told it affects your instructor more than you. From everything I have heard as long as you can explain why you got pinked then your okay...I screwed my Instrument and my inital cfi...I hope it does not effect me!! Anybody know?
