jspilot,

I couldn't be bothered with a second job because it would cut into my golf time. So instead, I had my wife pick up a second job to make ends meet.

I buy distressed properties, fix them up and rent them out. Very hard work, but I am getting very good at remodel jobs. The worst part is that I won't make a dime out of the properties until I start selling or get the loans paid off, 15 years at least. Also I take the money out of my current salary for the remodel jobs so I'm always broke until I'm finished with a job. The tax benefits are great, can deduct and write off many things. A college friend started off doing this and now he has 45 rental property's and thinks he will be able to retire at 40 and live off the rental income. Wishful thinking!

Process server...I've had guns pulled on me
So...YOU don't carry one when doing this? A buddy of mine does this...and he's had some quite interesting times. He carries concealed(legally) when serving.

It's amazing the difference a uniform and a gun on the hip make when serving papers and/or warrants.

Yea I do, but when the barrel is pointing a few inches from your head...sudden movements aren't the wisest course of action.
Usually the job is pretty boring...more like a delivery boy job than anything else. Kinda like an airline gig, those sudden moments of stark terror.
But when you hear things like "Gotta serve a restraining order on this guy who beats up his wife...oh yea..he is a meth addict who has a history of violence and probably has a few handguns laying around...". That is when you try to take all the precautions you can.
But in the end, he got served and then went to jail and I collected my 60 bucks.
