I personally have known small operators who have made up ads just to see what the market is like and who is looking....
pretty sad...(get a life!!!)

If anyone has ever heard back from one of these listings on pilotcrewjobs I'd like to hear about it. I never have; the latest being the Flightworks Falcon 50 SIC position in LGB which has been on their site for a month. Phone calls, messages left, emails to three different people. Me and about 1,000 other guys probably.

You all need to remember one fact ... sometimes, due to employment / labor law, these positions must be publicized for application by the general public. I've seen this happen, even though an applicant had already been selected through an internal referral.

Another possibility ... A friend of mine wondered why an A&P position was still on one of the major employment sites, even though the company claimed it had been filled. The company told him that the employment site made it so difficult to remove the listing, they finally decided to just leave it on there. When you think about it, it is in the best interest of the employment site to show as many jobs as possible. Most reputable sites don't do this, but not all of them are professionally motivated.

Here is a prime example of a non-existent job posting. I can't believe this one came up, especially with the current economy:

Challenger babysitter?

Could be a babysitting job... keeping a close eye on an owner/pilot all the while keeping those NASA reports ready to go.

The posted salary is definitely low for any international Challenger Chief Pilot, low for an international Captain, and close to average for an FO.

The required mins are ridiculously low for an international CP position which raises questions as to the validity of the add. The owner probably just doesn't want to pay top dollar for a true CL601 management pilot.

It appears that the owner is offsetting the cost of the aircraft debt service and operating expenses by chartering it. Logical extrapolation from the add requires one to ask the question... can he really afford this aircraft?

Never believe everything you read in an employment add like this. From my experiences, these positions don't last long at all. I'd be very cautious on this one. Yes, yes, any job is good right now.

Pay is real low. My old company paid more than that to fly the LR-31A.
