Well, I think hitting the hillside is probably worse. That deforms the shape of the wing, too, though ice buildup does slow down at that point...

This is what comes of putting panic buttons in airplanes. Inexperienced pilots doing stupid things in the hopes that their parachute will save them...most all of the deployments to date haven't been anything but pilots flying beyond their, or the airplane's, means and capabilities, then deploying the panic button? Did the parachute entice them to be there in the first place, feeling that at least they had the backup of a little thin bit of fabric?

Seems like it's sort of a license for complacency. Anybody got any figures on SR22 'V max parachute deployment'??

If I were Falling out of the sky. I would rather have the chute. Might work/Might not!
