It's about durn time.

I'm not convinced about the biometric yet. With the degree of identity theft today, one might argue that this could protect the pilot, but I think putting biometric identity information on an ID that could be stolen (or the database information accessed) only creates a greater possibility of impersonating the valid ID holder, or stealing his or her identity. Having acess to biometric data may only make the job more convincing.
 
When I was based at SFO a few years ago they used biometric stuff for access to areas. I thought it seemed to work well, but you had to make sure you put your hand in the right place on the reader to get into places. Not a biggie.
 
Yeah, and some commuter pilot will figure out a way to hack the system and get Ron Jeremy's picture on his licence... :D TC

If I make my license picture John Travolta does that mean that I can be a "captain" at Quantas too??? and of course I'll get his 707 type as well right:)
