I am considering taking a job with a local 135 operator. Offer includes $50K, salaried, in a PC-12. Full time on call. Don't have any more specifics, but I would be interested to hear opinions on the PC-12. Is $50K reasonable, rural central VA.

It seems like a heck of a nice ride.

$50K/year I would say is more than "acceptable" for flying a single engine aircraft around. Many of your 135 operators don't even compensate their turbo-prop cap ee tins that much to start out. If the benefits, vacation days, raises, flexibility, advancement opportunity, etc, are a given then this would be a pretty good gig.

We need to stop thinking like this. I am guilty of it too. If we are using the pay rates at the piece of $hit 135 operators as a measuring stick we are in a world of hurt. There are garbage truck drivers making more than $50k. We need to raise our collective self esteem before it is too late. Oh wait, it is already too late.

Sorry, needed to vent. Good luck with the job. The way things are going at Aloha, your PC-12 job may look very good to me in a couple of weeks.

I flew a PC-12 for about a year doing medivac missions (EMS). I simply loved the a/c. 50K a year is not too bad. we got Crap pay (36K)
But our schedules we 14 days a month and flying about 300 hours a year.
EMS = Earn money sleeping

Like the Aloha guy says the way the industry is going..... I would take that job is a heartbeat. Hopefully you get some good schedules and time off. Good luck to you.

I put about 2 years into a PC12. Great airplane! 50K is about the going rate for a PIC on that a/c. It is kind of low, but thats what I've been seeing out there. Good luck, you'll love the airplane.

Sounds like NMAA. They called me twice for interviews but both times had other committments.

$50K/year is a bit low, but is what most are paying these days.

It is a fun airplane to fly and will get you in and out of a lot of airports that the same size airplane will never see.

Good luck

I meant Native American Air Ambulance. They use PC-12s
