Anyone in the hiring pool for Piedmont? Just wondering if anyone has heard about a May class date.

Piedmont is coming to Purdue to interview in a week and a half and we were told those hired would be in a May 15th class date. Don't know if that is still valid though.

Please, man... come up with a more original name! Think of how much crap you'd get had you registered with ERAUEagle...

...

i spoke with a training dept. guy a few days ago in LGA, he said they have two small classes going through right now, and two more upcoming classes. I forget which month he mentioned, i think for may.

Pdt Movement

thank gosh there is a some friggen movement at Piedmont, well wait i guess we'll see if it actually happends. i dont believe anything will happen until i see people on the property, or aircraft on the property.

I was in the March 6th class and while we were there we were told that there was going to be a class run in May. Like some of the guys on here will say, take the rumors you hear with a grain of salt b/c I was told in Sept. that I would be in an October class and six months later I finally made it. Best thing you can do is just keep flying and stay instrument current and you'll get your shot here soon enough.

avl pilot you'll like pdt its a good place to work for. you'll put up with the same regional airline stuff as you do anywhere else. people from the march 6th class, ar they in SOE yet or the sim's still?

....

There is no movement in PDT, just some new people getting hired, thats all. Youll get bumped up a seniority number or two, thats it. I think they might be about to go to sims, some guy was doing two-on-ones when we brought the terminator in the other night.

I think we should paint one of our dashes in a "Spirit of Salisbury" paint job, whatdya think?

Movement? I moved up 14 slots over the last 12 months. That's 14 slots company wide. I think the new hires are just filling in the bottom end of the list for the other newbies that hit 1000 hours and bail.

Should we put a big chicken on the tail or a picture of Farrow. They would both say the same thing about Piedmont.

......

PropPiedmont,

I dunno, i guess either one would do just fine. Or you could put a "Scooter Trash" logo in italics under the captains side window. Thats a thought. If i had it my way, i'd put a set of teeth around the nose cone, like on the A-10's.

And about the newguys just getting their 1000TT and leaving, I wonder where the hell everyone thinks their going? I can count the number of "semi-stable" ( and i use that term as loosely as possible) regional gigs on half the fingers on my left hand. I mean come on guys, the flow through will be signed sealed and approved next month, right?

Even counting the last 2 classes, we're still staffed with 20 less pilots than we had in October. This seems to be all attrition hiring.

Like JohnnyP said, there will be some movement once that flow through is established and the APL gets exhausted. Until then plan on everything staying the same. 12-24 months down the road, if you run the numbers, there just might be a PDT guy flowing up.

....

Im trying to get a head start, so im gonna bone-up on my A330 limitations. Thats the big one, right?

prop piedmont i agree with what you said but there's one big thing you forgot to mention , yea 12 months from now there might be much more going on; but pdt might not even be around then.

We are all on SOE right now, I think a couple of us are about half way done and the others just started within the last couple of days. I think the class that started after us is doing 2 on 1's now. I'll tell ya one thing, I sure do like having my capt. schedule. I got the next 5 days off and I don't know what to do with myself. I should be done with SOE in the next week or so and I look forward to seeing and meeting all the Bern pilots.

why do you think piedmont will be no longer?

Because somebody's been saying exactly that for the past 20 years, so eventually they'll be right... right? I mean, gosh- the second bankruptcy was the death knell. Or was it the concessions for the RJs that went to PSA instead? Maybe it was the rumor of getting 300s (THREE hundreds), or we die. Perhaps when the -7 went away. Or the Shorts. Or the 99s. Or when we started doing RON trips- The Right Reverend Joe did the first one about 24 years ago in Shenandoah. Yeah- that was it, the beginning of the end.

*snort*

There ain't such an animal as a sure thing in this biz.

Exactly. We will probably still be around, but if we are offerred jobs elsewhere in the US Air system it would be more acceptable for us to shrink to 20 Dash 8s.

SIG i have to agree with you, i probably did speak out of turn on that issue of pdt continuted existance. when i'm wrong i'll for sure admit it.

Out of turn? No way!

My point was more along the lines of we have no earthly idea wtf is going to happen. The sky has been falling for a really long time here; we're cockroaches, mang. We can't die, no matter how hard they try to kill us.

How much DOES a -100 lease cost?

Sig,

In answer to your question I heard it was something like $5,000-10,000 per month. Christ they make that over the first day or two...

Yeah, $10,000 a month is kind of steep. Do the math $10,000/mon times 12 is 120,000/yr times at least 10 years equals $12 million. There is no way US Air would put $12 million into a Dash over 10 years. A brand new Dash 100 didn't even cost $12 mil.

I believe the lease rates are less than $5,000 a month.

I did some bad math there. $1.2 mil.

If you were in the March 6th class and going to EWN, I know who you are. In fact, I think I saw you coming in on Tuesday while I was doing my last 2-on-1 session. How's SOE? How's the plane compare to the sim? I'm in the march 27th class and we're all pretty much starting sim training this week.

There is SUPPOSED to be a May class, but keep in mind, people haven't been showing up for class. There were supposed to be 14 in my class and now we only have 6.

its not a good thing when people dont show up obviously, but its not a bad thing when you consider the peeps in the march 6 as well as the march 27 class in my opinion will not be used much on reserve, true ca were sitting right seat in both sby as well as mdt (due to shortages of sic's), but will those places pretty much good to go i think its not a bad thing. i remember when i got hired the crappy waiting around for a phone call on reserve and never ever being used, i had almost 3 weeks without flying. i know ewn, cho, and roa are staffed more than enough tough flying, but if you live in base your sitting large on reserve (if thats possible on regional pay)...

Plane's a little heavier than the sim, and louder too :) Sim's a -100 and I only flew the -100 once or twice on SOE. I don't think I'll fly a -200, either...they should be gone by June.
-300s are fun, that extra pack really helps in the South.

Before the BK I was told that the 100's were about 35K per month and the 200s were about 70-75K per month. At any rate, the 200s are at least twice as expensive as the -100s. I will miss them, but having a small fleet of them probably makes little sense.

Does HR give any weight to people who have a current pilot walk in a resume?

Is there a current class?
