Heard there is now a sim ride - anyone done it yet? Please provide feedback, even if you didn't make it.
Thanks

First interview sim ride is on this upcoming Tuesday. As for airports the sim has... ROA off the top of my head. CLT and most likely LGA.

Good luck. PM me if you need non-sim ride interview info

Holy crap.

I never would have gotten hired if I had to fly that POS for my interview!

Really, chances are they are just looking to see if you have a scan and if you inderstand basic IFR nav. I understand that has been a problem with new hires as of late.

I hope they got it fixed for the interviews, last time I flew that thing there was always something broken, something failing, or something on fire. :D

Yeah! Interviewees should have to perform an ILS approach to minimums, with the left engine failed, the right on fire, #2 hydraulic quantity loss, raw data with a roll control jam.

...That ought to seperate the men from the boys! Or the Women from the girls... er, whatever.

Just jokes y'all, just jokes!

That's pretty much how I remember my qualification MV with J.Pe. being. :) Anyway, how are these interviews going to work logistically? Will the actual interviews also be in CLT now vice SBY?

I don't know, tone the engine failure down to an ecu mel'd, the fire to no air conditioning on a hot summer day, and the control jam to no auto pilot (with the raw data) and you'd have a good view of if the interviewee could handle flying the line at PDT.

twighead - the sim ride will probably ensure they don't hire more guys like you. hAhaha!

Who let you out of your basement hole? :p

Actually, maybe it is better. That way Republic knows they will be getting higher quality pilots in a few months.

Spoken to a few training types, and I would anticipate nothing more than the usual ILS, and hold. They're going to want to see that you know the basics, are trainable, and have a scan.

That'll be about it.

Had CQ last week and asked around they all said that they will have a training Capt in the left seat who will set power when asked. Interviewee will intercept and track a loc to an ILS and enter a hold, 20 min total.
good luck

Oh my....the CLT Sim for interview evals....

I've seen that sim make new hire FOs cry on their first day of sim training.

"Sky Pointer? What's that?"

Oh my.....

He's a pretty intense dude, no doubt. Is AP still there? He was a freakin' riot.

AP was doin CQ ground a few weeks back. He actually kept class interesting.

On topic, I can't imagine having JP in the sim for an interview. I would have to pull my flask of whiskey outta my suit jacket, take a shot, offer him one to chill out, and replace it. Tell him "I just needed a bracer. What did you want me do? Fly an ILS? OK." Then just look at his face. It may be just as good as saying "fire trucks" during an emergency PA while in the sim. JP flips out when you say the word "fire."

How's sugar momma life Twighead?

fly the flight director use altitude select for altitudes and approach mode during the approaches. assuming the flight director doesnt fail you can put your face 10 inches from the attitude indicator and fly the command bars. set the torque to recommended for each segment and if the non flyinging pilot will set them then make him do it.

good luck, i flew that box yesterday it never gets any easier

I would be a little suprised if PDT lets 'em use the FD on the interview ride. If they are unfamiliar with the AFCS, it might just get them into more trouble than if they just did it raw data.

I know as a new hire, without experinc using the flight director in the Dash, I was better off without it. Raw data was what I was used to.
