Anybody interviewing with them in June? I have a June 16th ** interview **. I'm trying to find out if they have a schedule of upcoming class dates. I want to figure out (before the interview) when I might be at class if I get hired. I heard that they don't pool at Piedmont.

edited... sorry... I have an interview on June 16th, not class date.. typo.

Bwaha! Yeah, it is totally painless, but it has been blown in the past. Lying about bending a plane and showing up without a jacket/tie were the last two I heard of.

P31ho: Uhh, you have a June 16th class date but you want to know when class starts... and you have yet to interview? ??? Something about carts and horses comes to mind, or maybe I'm a bit confuzzled about what you're trying to say here.

Yeah June 2 interview date. i dont think they have a pool now, but I believe they did when they were doing the allegheny thing.

Basically, just pass the written and you should be in (if you don't say something really dumb during the interview with the Chief Pilot). If they invite you up to SBY they want to hire you (I know, many say that but in this case it is true). They try to screen the resume's pretty well before they call you, saves time and effort for everyone.

Good luck!

I just keep hearing from everybody that the interview process at Piedmont is a joke. But I want to prepare myself as if it's the toughest thing to get into so I don't run into any surprises. Is it really that easy? I mean they don't hire everybody that gets to the interview....

I think that Bob T. is gone now, but when I interviewed with him it was a whole 7 minutes. We talked about the weather mostly, and also about the various crew bases.

Yes, there is a pool right now. Interviewed on May 19th and was told to expect one of two letters. Either a "no" letter or a letter which places you in a pool for six months. They said that when training calls up and says they need a class of "x" number of people, Sheila Parker and John Bucannon will go into the pool and pick the top "x" people. They said it's not first in first out of the pool. They also said if we got the pool letter, to keep them updated with our times and let them know if you were still interested. As far as the interview goes, it's still the same. Show up at 9, there was 5 interviewing that day. 50 question written. 42 questions straight from the ATP, 8 approach plate questions. 45 min to complete it. Then Sheila gives a company overview. Then follwed by the 2-1 interview with Sheila and John (CP). Everyone's interview was 5 mins. Just a review of your application. No tech questions, no HR questions. Very good experience. I had more questions for them than they had for me. I was the last person to interview that day and was still done before 1230. Good luck.

Hey Ho, where you a student at?

I have a bunch of friends who will be in classes at PDT starting June, running through September. I have been told the interview is a piece of cake, and a couple people told me they weren't asked any technical questions, only HR "can I fly with you for a week" type stuff.

Good luck with your interview. I was offered an interview in June, but I had to decline it due to being under contract somewhere else.

Where are the junior bases? I don't want to be picky, but I really can't live in NY.

Can't or won't? From what I hear, it looks like lots of new hires will get to do some time/spend some time in SYR.

Syracuse... better than LGA

I think Siberacuse will go super senior for the ALG guys, and there are only 20 crews assigned.

Nobody wants SBY because of the ghetto-tastic parts of town... but life here in North OC is rather shweet. Just in here cooling off by reading the gossip, and I'm heading back out to the beach.

... I can hear the waves from the bedroom upstairs, literally a couple hundred yards away...

There are options.

I'm gonna slam a Yuengling and a SoCo/Lime and roll back out to surf. Seeya!

I would bet money any newhire id going to LGA, especially with Siberacuse opening. All the southern bases are going to be pretty senior if they close CLT like they've been threatening.

PDT turning into ALG

Seems like were turning into ALG with the downsizing of the southern bases and the opening up of the northern locals. Kind of sucks for us southern boys who wanna stay flying where the wx is warm and the people are friendly. What do yall PDT guys see happening to ORF. Just signed another lease here a few days ago, yikes. Then someone said Air wisky is moving in to ORF sometime in the future? Im always the last to find this info out, usually from someone at a different carrier. Im just going to keep praying at night for the ATL piedmont base, ha.

y'all wish it was turning into alg, you would be getting treated better than at pdt... lol

fyi syr was the biggest alg base not too long ago (bigger than lga is now), whittled away to ease the transitioning, not a 'new' place
i'm sorry that some of those bases are getting cut back, i know the feeling, i've been there, it sucks, all of us in syr didn't want to get forced out to lga, etc.
so don't try pinning it on the reopening of bases
btw, i've run into plenty of surly/unpleasant people in the south, and lots of nice personable folks up north, so that whole "we're nicer in the south" thing is malarkey, theres good people, and jerks all over

the flying in clt? goin mostly to our 'brothers' at psa, air whiskey's going to be picking up mesa's slack in phl, and the syr flying will be coming back from where ever it was sent out to (lga, orf, roa, contract carriers) in the first place
i doubt it will ever be what it was in it's heyday (boy were those the times, eh, 90,100, and learlove?)
outside of hub basing, syr is a great logisitical crew station, you can get to bos, lga, hfd, phl, pit, dca, bwi, clt in just one leg (all the hubs and 'focus' citys) and techinically drive/cab-able to alb, roc, buf, elm, ith, bgm, avp

but then this industry isn't near what it used to be, things are tough all over  oh well

SYR with a line was a great base. It was being displaced to LGA reserve and being home for a stunning 6 or 7 nights a month that made my decision to do some travelling just a little easier.

Some GREAT people at ALG and it was overall a very good place to work, especially at the regional level. At least it was from 1998 until Siegel.

Now if SYR approach would just realize that Dash8s descending can do 240 until 5nm out, and stop sequencing you behind the jet that's still in PA when you check in....

Meanwhile, keeping my options open as may be cap in hand for a job when I finally come home!

A-friggin' MEN, dude! What, do they not see our groundspeed inbound?? What about BGM- I got cleared to LAND after a Goofstream was cleared for the ILS, and subsequently went around?

Dude. I gotta go. I've been peeing on shoes all over this dang board; I'm a go get laid.
