Go to most emergency rooms in the US and you'll wait for hours. Been living out of the US for a year now with National Healthcare and have been very impressed. What's your experience?

Confuscious say: What happen when no pilot to fly plane - you recall.
Capitalism say: When your business model isn't making money you will sell airplanes and furlough.

But, I also disagree with any pilot who picks up open time in violation of the contract. Any pilot who accepts 200% pay for more than 5 days a year is violating the contract. Also, any pilot who exceeds the contractually allowable block hours in a given period (e.g., 750 projected block by Sept 30th).

Who negotiated that contract....hmmmm oh yes it was the senior captains. How are much do they make?

What was a 4th or 5th year FO making over there, $60/$65 an hour? Tops out at what $70/hour?

I'm not saying anyone should use a fulough as a time to soak it up, quite the contrary. But if there is no furlough the FO's have to make a living somehow since they were thrown under the bus by the captains!

I loved it when a captain had the balls to tell me I was picking up too much open time as he sat there making three times what I was making. With open time flying, pay at Spirit was actually doable. So during a furlough and only flying line value sucks for everyone...well except the guys that took care of themselves on the last contract.

Of course a furlough changes everything. :(

Negotiations leading to the current contract were led by none other than awakadaka. He was an FO at the time, so your logic don't hold up.

I'm sure glad to be outta there!

"Picking up open time will help bring back the furloughed pilots."

Said by CEOs with the same ethical and moral standards (meaning "NONE") that said smoking doesn't cause cancer. The hard part for them is to say it with a straight face.
