Its furlough time for me. I didn't get a chance to go up to sim after initial ground (737) before the plug was pulled and now the fate of the entire airline is on the line. So it looks like I am going back to the regionals. Who's hiring now? upgrade time? non-regionals? got 2700T 1000SIC 121 , 100TPIC.
Thanks

Sorry to hear that..... but who has already started sending people packing?

Good luck in the job hunt... perhaps something in the subprime lending industry would be more stable than airline employment!:(

Hope all turns out well.....

Yeah, what airline is this? I don't know what regional you left from, but it could have been a bad move anyhow.

Good luck. Hopefully this is a blessing because if you're first to get furloughed, there's a lot of jobs out there. Corporate gigs spring to mind. You may want to check out NetJets. It might be a little while before your interviewed, but first year pay is relatively awesome.

I was talking to a good friend in UAL, he thinks that he will be out in the next few months after the announcement of up to 20 airplanes parked. The problem is that with all this merger talks, the regionals are about to hit a dry spell also. Just when there was a glimmer of hope that things were starting to get better

I agree that you should quickly fire off resumes to the fractionals - Netjets (1st choice), Flexjet, Citationshares and Avantair. Netjets, Flex and Citationshares offer starting salaries in the $60K range and Netjets offers 100 pilot domiciles (live where you want). The line for interviews at these places is already long but you may get lucky. Check out:

No regional will pay well - so just expect that. I would probably recommend Republic on the E170 or Mesaba if you had to go. Corporate jobs require networking - so, get your suit/shiney shoes ready for that.

Keep a positive attitude - good luck!

Hi!

USA Jet is hiring, but it's NOT like working for a regional. Pay starts at $39K for DC-9 FO. Falcon Capt upgrade is about 6 months for someone with your experience.

If U want a bunch of info, PM me with your email.

PS-USA Jet now has more PAX revenue than freight revenue, and the PAX business is expanding.

C'mon down to Pinnacle, the waters warm for street captains. Just check out the other lovely threads on how great this place is, fire off a resume and c'mon down.

I thought friends don't let friends fly for Pinnacle*?

*Unless those friends live in-base.

I'm sorry, what airline did you say you were furloughed from? I don't know what major hired you with those times. You must have been pretty special.

Life has just opened a door for you, my friend. We'd love to have you at Avantair. Get us a resume. [email protected].

As said before. Try the fractionals. You won't look back if you do.

Good luck, and keep us updated. I am curious where you can go with 100 turbine PIC, other than the regionals. I wonder how competitive you are.

First thing, go down to the unemployment office and secure yourself some income for the transition. You've paid into the fund for years and it is designed for people like you. Helps the transition to new employment. While you're at the office, Look into the Workforce Improvement Fund (WIF). There is money just sitting there and they'll give it to you to get a type rating. Good luck. It's going to be a rough few months. Try to stay positive and approach it as an opportunity.
