PHX to Sun Devil Stadium

I'm nonrevving to PHX to see my beloved Green Bay Packers vs AZ Cardinals next week.

How far is it from Sky Harbor Airport to Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe? Is is preferrable/cheaper to rent a car, taxi, or bus. (and how long is the ride).

Also, anybody who lives in the area have any leads on hotels in PHX or Tempe that may give crew discounts?

Stadium Mileage

The stadium is about 5 miles from the airport. There is the Airport Ramada and the Airport Hilton hotels that I stayed at when I was commuting. Not sure if they have any discounts anymore. You would have to rent a car to go to the stadium.

If you are just coming in for the night, I think it is a Best Western that is at Rural/Scottsdale Road and the 202 Freeway. If you stay there, you could have a hotel van pick you up and you could walk about 1 mile to the stadium and not have to rent a car.

We took a van from the airport to the stadium a few years ago. It was about 20$ each way. We just spent the day so I couldn't tell you about hotels.

About a year ago I was through PHX briefly and stayed at the Marriott Courtyard near Sky Harbor. They have van service to/from the airport. Tempe wasn't too far, but not within walking distance. A cab would probably be required. Didn't have a discount, but the rate was pretty reasonable as I recall.

I wonder if there will be more Packer fans than Cardinal fans??!!
I was optimistic the Cardinals were going to go 3-13 this year but I think it is going to be a bad year. 2-14 is more realistic. The problem is the other team has too many (11) players on the field.

The stadium is about five miles from the airport on the left side of the airplane as you're on final landing to the west. The Cardinals side is usually empty because there are no Cardinal fans. Everybody in Phoenix is from somewhere else and had a favorite team before they moved.

What happened? Feel sorry for any Packer fans. Anytime the Cardinals win it is an upset no matter who they play.

Oh well, speculate the dozens of avid Arizona fans are rejoicing tonight. The Cards have a legitimate chance at 3-13. Don't think this will be good enough to get them in the playoffs this year though.
