A340: "LONGER - LARGER - FARTHER - FASTER - HIGHER - QUIETER - SMOOTHER"
Does anyone else find that humorous?

Isn't there some pic floating around the net of the 600 with the word "Fart" on the side (having the last 3 letters "her" been blocked by a door or something)?

That looks like an enormous.....

Warning: hostile takeover!

finish the sentence starts... NOW!

(refer to austin powers' movies ;))

Hahaha! That's funny! (the fart thing)

Now, I'm gonna go out onto the firing range here. I like the way the A-380 looks-- its like an aquired taste. However, I really like the way the A-340 looks. There's something very feminine and sexy about it, and it gets me going. I love Boeing too-- its hard not to, but I really enjoy the softer, gentler look of the Airbus. IMO Airbus have these beautiful, graceful wings, curved wings, which compliment the fuselage, and I dig it.

Nothing like a Fart joke on a Friday afternoon.

Read this one the other day:

A man and his wife have gone to bed. After laying in bed for a few minutes the man rips a fart.
Wife rolls over and growls, "What in God's name was that?"
Man says, "TOUCHDOUWN, I'm ahead, 7 to nothing!!!"
A few minutes later the wife lets rip a scorcher.
Husband says, "Crikey, what was that?"
She replies "Touchdown, tie score."
The man lays there for about 10 minutes trying to work one up. He tries so hard he craps in bed.
The wife asks, "Now what in the world was that?"
He replies, "Halftime, switch sides."

"The air is so humid, when you fart......bubbles come out!"

Quote today from "Dinger" on the majors page, reference to Continental in Guam.

Bobby's so old ... he farts dust.

(I think the A380 is sexy, too. But I like my women chunky, anyway.)

I don't know about sexy. That thing is a beast. BTW, how many airports in the US would be ready for that thing? I would imagine only the largest airports (JFK, LAX, ORD)...seems like it's very limited. Why build such a big plane when the airports it can fly into are so limited?

Does anyone know if they have been able to successfully run the 90 second evac drill with a full boat??? Did you count the doors on this bird...is it 7 per side? The Pax count is what 750?

So that is 750 people out of the aircraft in 90 seconds, thats 8.3 people/sec by 14 doors, ???over wing exits...guess its doable, but that is alot of meat flying....

Actually they only get to use half the exits during the test. And, no, I don't know if they have tried it yet.

It's half the exits, in the dark, using ordinary unrehearsed people. They don't know which exits are unusable until the whistle blows, either!

Last I heard, Airbus was trying to use computer simulations to comply with the emergency evacuation requirement. What a crock! I have always had serious doubts that this aircraft has sufficient emergency exits, and flight attendant unions have had similar concerns.
It will be entertaining for sure to watch the evacuation drill, or to watch Airbus complain when we don't allow the 380 in our airspace after they try to wiggle out of the requirement with a computer simulation!

That's an excellent photo, because it goes to show you that about all Airbus did was slap an upper deck on an A340 .. they didn't even bother to elevate the cockpit to make the nose more symmetrical.

Boeing managed to evacuate 678 ocupants from a 747-400 using only 6 doors...

Airbus is going for around 850 (I think), only a handfull more per exit than Boeing managed to demostrate.

Even though it's huge, it looks short and stubby. I think it's that beast of a wing root that spans almost the whole frickin plane. Ugggggleeeeeee.
