How long has it been taking for Phase 2? It has been a month. The email I got during phase 1 one said 4-9 weeks.

It can take a looong time. I was lucky, only took me a month and I got a class date. The holidays are definitely slowing things down. Something else I thought was weird was that they invite you to class and tell you that it is a conditional offer of employment pening your backround check. You would think that it wouldn't take over a month to complete a simple backround check (simple in my case). So have fun sweating that all through training. I got my official offer of employment on my last day of IOE. Good luck !!!

That's scary. Even knowing you have a clean record I would be apprehensive about leaving a job knowing there was any possibility that they might find something they didn't like and send you home from school jobless.

Finish the background check, give me a thumbs up, then I'll quit my current job and come to school.

I'm sure I made it sound a little more dramatic than it probably is. JetBlue is VERY careful about spending money and carelessly wasting resources. I have a feeling that the background check is completed before you arrive for class. Maybe it has something to do with the personal contract you sign with the company. I don't know if anyone has ever been sent home after already starting class.

You still have 5 weeks then...

It all depends on what's going on. Guys have gotten hired and barley finished phase two by thier checkrides... Others wait months, then wait for class dates.

Right now, the competition is tough there are THOUSANDS of applicants. If you made it through phase one your 85% good(IMO). They are giving guys the boot from phase two now more than they used to.

Keep yer panties on!!

Good Luck

4 months to clear phase 2 with mil background and another month to start class.. All of my class was 5 months from interview to start.. Better get a hobby while waiting

I guess it all depends on how busy they are and how many they need for each class. My class was 1 month from interview to start. There were guys from my interview group who only waited about two weeks to start class. Phase 2 completion letter came right after I finished IOE. Good luck to you guys in the Phase II pool.

That is good news. It has been a month and I haven't heard anything. I just wanted to make sure some took longer than a month to hear.

There is absolutely nothing logical or even normal about Jetbues hiring procedures. We are actively interviewing pilots who do not meet the minimums. We have recently turned down applicants with multiple type ratings with tens of thousands of hours. As mentioned above new hires are finishing training before an official offer is made. Under the new regime expect the unexpected. Individual pilot input is being phased out. A chief pilot recently passed a candidate to phase 2 which the 3 interviewers refused to. It's an interesting time in our hiring.

Yeah, I got my official job offer the night before my checkride. JB was very clear with me with the conditional offer. They said that they would never give a conditional offer without having FULL confidence in a clean background check. (they don't want to spend the money)
My background was quick. (one 121 carrier and current DoD TS)
If they give you a conditional, don't sweat it, unless you didn't tell them about the one time you were caught runnin " square grouper "in a ratty old 210.

Have you specifically heard of someone getting hired below minimums? Hell, we don't have high minimums.

I've been swimming for almost 4 months. Guys in the time slots b4 my interview got called for the Jan 4 class. Do you think backgrounds, contracts and employment will come faster than IOE for people in phase 2 for 4 months?

A lengthy background can be blamed on the prior companies you worked for. They are required by law to respond by a certain time, but if each prior employer or current employer is waiting until the deadline as prescribed by law, you suffer. The dudes that interview long after you, but are already in class, they had people in their past that simply respond to the background check company immediately.....it just plain suck$......

I may not have been clear. sorry. I know specifically pilots have been interviewed without meeting the minimums. This happened recently so I'm not sure if they were hired.

Blue darts, interview without meeting the mins. Blue dart= interview not hired. and then guys get pi$$ed when their blue dart doesnt get the job... yes, some got the job, and some did not.

It is my understanding that a dart only guarantees an interview, but they must meet the mins.....

only an interview. I don't have one of those. This is not the question I had.

The company that does that checks sucks. Then after they finally do their work a board at JetBlue goes through the results and gives you the thumbs up or down. For me this process took almost 6 months.... That said at the time 'blue had not hired in years and thus they were in undiscovered country. Regardless, it seems to me they have throttled back hiring in the first quarter and will throttle back up in the second. Might want to grab a pair of yellow swimmies.
