Does anyone have any recent experience using Petropovlosk as a fuel stop from Anchorage to China? Is this a QFE airport? Is customs difficult to deal with? Are there any other viable airports for a 3500 nautical mile range airplane? Any other thoughts/experiences would be appreciated. Thanks!

Very smooth long runway. nothing like the teeth jarring runways in Russia. Very modern airport. Great ATC. No larger mountainous terrain. generally good weather. Handler completes customs info, and is done when fueling is complete. Slots required - Last trip fuel and customs were done quickly, and we just had to wait for our departure slot.
at least in a Cl601, you need to flight plan for routing over russia - neonn G349 marcc g583 mve. due to lighter winds than the more direct route. there is also another route you can plan, but this one works out almost 100 %.
you have to watch their hours of operations, as they are closed at night.
Sapporo works best for Shanghai , korea, hong kong, or anywhere in Japan. Khabo is still a better option for Beijing.( it is on the direct routing)

I have been into Petro several times over the last three years. First of all, don't worry about customs if you are only using it as a fuel stop for some other country. It is known as a Tech Stop. The runways are rough, but the fuel price and turn times are far superior that Japan. Also the landing fees are nonexistant there. A couple of notes, if you haven't been into Petro before, don't go there at night.There are several high mountains in the area. And the altitudes are in meters.
