I've been doing a search on per diem and it seems the goverment allows about 2.10 per hr. Of course a few areas are higher. The majority of cargo and regionals are only at about 1.60 or less. What gives! Why has there not been a raise in over ten years? This is the only break pilots get(tax free). We should see at least 2.00 hr across the board. What do you guys think?

RAH is $1.55/hr. Goes up .05 every October, and I agree it should be at the max allowed by the feds. Even if you "real" pay is slightly lower because of the tax advantages.

Trans States is $1.40. It's been there for 2 years and won't change any time soon. Woo Hoo! We are the lowest so far!

Mesa is a Buck and a Quarter. Lowest except for lakes...who would have guessed...:uzi:

So, Mesa has about the liowest perdiem too. They can't lead anything!!

I think Allegiant's is 1.00. Course they are non-union too!

Lakes isn't non-union, it just seems like it because there hasn't been a contract in place for 5 years.

OK ladies, listen up. If you itemize on your taxes you can take the amount you get reimbursed from the government rate for the town you stay in and deduct the difference.

Not exactly...many other rules and further deductions to consider. Still usually worth the hassle though.

The deduction works best if you do a lot of overnights in big, expensive cities. If most of your overnigts are in smaller cities that are at just the government average you won't be getting much, if anything. I'm not sure how much more you can deduct if you are doing Mexico, Canada, and/or the Carribean, but that could add to a much bigger deduction. Do any of the regionals have international per diem rates or will you only get more deduction without more pay?

We get nada, zilch, zippo. No landing credit or per diem. No wonder I make no $$.
