Any info on this company...a fellow co-worker of mine did a phone interview a few years ago.

What is it like flying up in Alaska???

Depending on what you want to do, and looking at what you ahve listed for total time, PenAir is a great place to work in Alaska.
PM me if you want some info.
Who did you fly for up there sleddriver? I don't think many on here know what a "sled" is!

It builds character. Everybody should do it. Plus, you will never see anyplace more beautiful.

Go for it.

Do you know what their mins are?? What do they typically hire into? I'd like to get my ASES at some point.

If you can go fly in Alaska, you have to do it. I learned more in my year there, than I think I could ever learn flying an RJ.

Hey...
my .02

I flew a sled up in BET and a big Six down in JNU... You need the right personality to work there, and btw most people won't fly you up for an interview and ALOT get turned down right after the interview (most likely a flying type interview).

Be prepeard to fly at 500' at all times in bad visibility and not so nice airplanes. Granted you won't be 'pushed' out the door per se, but if you're like most people, you will be intimidated out the door... a fine line I know but that's how it works...

Ok that's the bad stuff now the good stuff...
Buzo is right.. I also Learned more in my 2 Yrs and 900 hrs than in my 2000 hrs flying for a regional.. The views are breathtaking. The people are great the Coffee is horid! but you will drink alot of it.

Good Luck

That pretty much says it all.

It is a pretty good description though. Amazing how the same wing and tail can fly (and land) so different.

PenAir is a great place to work
the other regional up here is ERA aviation and they appear to be going under they are in chapter 11 and sinking fast
if you really want to come to alaska now is the time because with ERA going under PenAir will certainly expand and will be hiring
not all flying is low and slow with our SAAB 340B and Metro fleet everything we do is in an IFR environment. They have a small 135 operation but generally handpick the pilots there from first officers who want to go and do that type of flying
pay is good and job is secure and the flying is awsome what more do you want

And for thoes that want to, you can be home every night in your own bed. Good schedule, good pay for a regional, and good folks.
