I know that using those two words in the same sentence is a joke in itself. However, if you are an FO who wants to be even more depressed just take a look at this:

According to the PDT website in December, the plan was for about 25 upgrades in '07. If you take the top 25 active FO's, that will mean that the most junior Captain at PDT by the end of '07 will have a DOH of 6/5/01.

Even if 10 of those FO's pass up or can't upgrade, that only get's us to an 8/01 DOH.

I was wondering if any of those other places that complain about upgrade time (like PSA) are this bad.

Let's not even talk about future upgrade plans yet. Right now the most junior captain has a hire date of 7/05/01.

The most junior Dash 8 Captain at Piedmont is a 5 year 8 month employee.

Beat that Mesa, Chataqua, Republic, Jet Blue, AirTran, Colgan, Pinnacle, PSA, Air Wisconsin, SkyWest, Shuttle America, Trans States, North American, UPS.

But you made my point even better. The current most junior CA can potentially still be the most junior CA at the end of 2007 even with 25 more uprades. There are still that many FO's senior to the current most junior CA.

That's why I left after 8 months...the realistic upgrade is zero. I have heard that management is telling new hire F/Os that there is no plan for the company after the -100 aircraft are done...by 2008-2009. Does not sound too promising.

I can tell you with 100% certainty that management is not telling anyone that. As to wether the rest of that rumor is true remains to be seen.

I wouldn't be so sure. I was on the property in summer '04 and there were no plans at that time for PDT aircraft after 2008.

I found SK comments in CLT interesting regarding DASH-8-400 scope language. Any new news?

There weren't scope issues, it was just "not gonna waste our money sending them to PDT" issues... I think? Hell, I forget already and I was the one who started that thread. Goes to show what kind of malaise has taken over at the 'monster.

There is scope issues if one examines the mainline language! 5 Years ago they (Bombardier) wanted to give them to US Airways, now there a 25 million dollar a piece bird wanted more and more by a bunch of airlines!
Instead of investing in a bunch of worthless 50 Seat RJ's they should have jumped on the 400's!! But thats US Airways one step behind everyone, they will step over a dollar to pick up a penny!!

The majors are beginning to hire again! If I were a new guy coming up, I think I would look elsewhere! Not saying PDT is a bad place to work, but sitting FO for that long would be waste. Find a place with a 2 year upgrade! Get your PIC and start applying!

Unless things change for the better by the end of this year, I see PDT having a real hard finding pilots at all!!

Was the language "airframe" specific...jets with XX seats or turboprops with XX seats or does it just refer to aircraft? I don't remember.

It refers to any aircraft with more than 69 seats, or I think, 60,000 lbs. It also applies to "turbine powered aircraft with an external propeller". There are several side letters addressing RJs, but none of them appear to give scope relief on anything with a prop.

We'll have to be careful to avoid hitting the pigs flying around when we get 400s.
