I'm sure this'll get moved, and I really don't care. This is the only way the information will get out is in this forum.

We lost Hector Antonio Sierra-Diaz (Hector Sierra) last night (10JAN08) in a motorcycle accident on I-4 in Orlando. He was 28. Hector was a former ATA Orlando CFI, a PDT FO for 3 1/2 years based in CHO, a Pinnacle DTW based CA, and recently moved on to JetBlue. Hector is survived by his son, Ryan (4), who lives in NC, and his family in Kissimmee, FL as well as PR.

Hector was a great guy, my condolences to his family.
Very sad news indeed...............:(

D*MN IT!

I flew with HS when he was still an F/O at 9E and we did my last PC together before I left there. Man oh man.

Glad I had a chance to drink with you buddy. I'll miss you.

RIP

Edit...
Please guys/gals. Take the same responsibility with your motor vehicles that you have with your planes. Hector might still be around if he wasn't joyriding. (Allegedly)

Sad, I met his little boy in CLT one time with is ex-girlfriend/Babys mother.

Great Looking litte kid.

So sad to die that way at an early age. Just another reminder that we aren't bullet proof.

Lets not make this a "what he did wrong thread". I don't know much about what happened that night, but i do know that his crews and everyone who knew him thought the world of him. He was one of the nicest funniest people that i have ever met. R.I.P buddy

I'm not, but I can say what I've posted because I've said it to his face numerous times. I knew him for over 8 years. He was my best friend and a brother to me.

Thats cool, i knew he was a bit crazy on the bike too, and always worried that this would happen. I just think it would be better to avoid posting certain details of the unnecessary risks he was taking in a public forum.

I'm a bit torn up over this and i would rather read a thread remembering his many good qualities. Learning about his passing was like taking a gut shot.

I remember seeing Hector's name on many releases I did. I didn't know him personally but I send my condolences to his family. Sorry for the loss of the friend, guys.

A 9E dispatcher

I was a Flight Instructor with Hector at ATA in orlando. He was a very funny guy, and very personable as well. He was a good instructor who got along well with his students and fellow Instructors. God Speed Hector.

Services for Hector

Services for Hector Sierra will be on Sunday, January 13th, 2008 from 2pm to 5pm EST at:

Grissom Funeral Home
803 Emmett Street
Kissimmee, FL 34741
Phone: (407) 847-3131

I've spoken to Steph (his ex, and Ryan's Mom) as well as other close friends and they all feel that uniforms are appropriate.

His body will either be cremated in FL and flown to Puerto Rico, or flown to PR and cremated. I'm not sure on the specifics.

Also, Hector was a ROA based FO with PDT, not CHO. I thought he was based in CHO at one time. I apologize for the wrong information.

Wish I could make it down there, but my thoughts and prayers will be with Steph and Ryan and the rest of Hectors family.

God speed, Hector. You sure made the time at ATA a lot easier with your big grin and quick wit. The world is a little darker without you in it.

My thoughts & prayer will be with the family.
Thanks for making those difficult ATA Tunisian student days funnier. You've shown me how to find humor in any situation. That goes for getting a *ss chew by the chief or arguing with Kenny in the maintenance.
God speed my friend...

So long my friend :-(

I've known him since before he was a pilot. We were training partners in FL waaaaay back in the day. Hector was a great person, friend and a great pilot. It's so sad to see him cut down at such a young age with a young son as well.

Hector taught me all the Spanish I'll ever need to know: how to order a beer, get a room and curse out the locals.

I still remember the day I had him asleep in back of my 172 and I nosed over more than enough to pin him to the ceiling before he woke up. He swore to repay me but I NEVER slept again while he was at the stick.

His unique sense of humor and addictive personality will be greatly missed.

Best to the family....

BTW: If anyone know's Dan (Buck) Briggago at Piedmont, PM me (he was our instructor back when)..... Thanks
