We are pleased to inform you that a comprehensive agreement in principle has been reached with the Company on an amended collective bargaining agreement (CBA) for Piedmont pilots.
Today, we provided full contract language to Company representatives for their review. As soon as the contract language is reviewed and accepted, we will present the tentative agreement to the PDT MEC for their approval and authorization of a membership ratification ballot.
While completion of this agreement took much longer than anyone wanted, the agreement includes important improvements that we’re sure you will appreciate, including: a signing bonus that fairly compensates PDT pilots for increases that were not received during negotiations; annual pay raises going forward; increased 401(k) contributions; more days off for reserves and a higher monthly guarantee; and increased per diem. Maybe most important, a new career progression framework provides well-defined and guaranteed opportunities for mainline jobs in a document that Group signs and which is binding on it.
As reported earlier, we have addressed the Company’s key proposal—pilot insurance premium payments—but the increases are staged in over the life of the contract to ensure that year-over-year steps are modest and remain below most other pilot groups’ premiums.
We want to take this opportunity to thank you for your support during this long bargaining process. We also want to thank the Company representatives—including President Steve Farrow and Vice President of Flight Operations Michael Scrobola—for their work and commitment to reaching a new CBA. We know that they, like us, made an extra effort at the end to bridge remaining gaps and we sincerely appreciate that effort.
We hope that the contract language is completed quickly so that an MEC meeting to approve it can take place in the next two weeks. After that, we’re planning on road shows in all the domiciles to provide you with the contract and answer all your questions.
Thanks again.
