I know, I know.

But the rumors are starting to fly again. And I heard they are coming from the top now.

Im sure its total BS, but anyways, back to my 120 degree cockpit from hell

Naw. Scrobola sez they weren't warned when the -400 roadshow in Phoenix happened... but he acknowleged it happened.

** besides, CAL's RFP for bigguns would soak up any out there.

Yup, don't think we'll see Q400's at PDT. I hate to say it, but I fear if they did come, they would probably go to an outside "el cheapo" vedor. Our pay rates would likely be too high to interest them.

I'm guessing PDT doesn't have APUs in any of the Dashes?

Or is is Dashi?

sure we do. sometimes they even work.

Course even if it does, the canuks aren't exactly the go to guys for cooling systems. I guess the heat's a little more their style.

Yeah, just that the pipes have 20 years of crud built up in them and very little cold air comes out of the gaspers. Just climb the cabin up to about 9000 ft and it cools off better, of course this doesn't always work on the ground ;)

I'm sure to figure out a way suck my own d*ck before a -400 will ever show up at PDT.

IF!!! They come, it will be a couple of years from now.

Don't forget that some third world airline no one's every heard of has to wear them out first.

It was too easy, so I edited this. But MESA will get 'em at the current payscale.

Yeah, I heard that a lot in the summer. And while we're on the subject: While in training at my current job, an instructor mentioned the fact that deferred APUs are usually fixed same-day here. After expressing my unfamiliarity with such a concept, he said, "Well, yeah, you need it for passenger comfort." Now there's an idea, but I think it makes too much sense to be implemented at PDT. (And besides, crossbleed starts blow; sorry for the pun.)

Question: So...if you really could do that , does that mean you're gay? Punching the clown is one thing but putting the clown in your mouth is a whole 'nother world, one that I think is best left undiscovered.

there is a large order in with bombarier for 400's. but who's it for is anyones guess!!
although we would NEVER know until the INK was VERY dry. -------------------------- why would they make it pulic, or known to the company. think of all the pilots who would get the idea to purchase a little but of bombardier stock before it made it to the papers that usairways is purchasing more turboprops (insider trading). guys i wouldn't expect to know ANYTHING until they have agreed on $ and everything is a done deal.

According to your logic, if you use your hand then you would be gay too. Hand is male, mouth is male, Senior Pepe is male......

PROPELLER AIRCRACFT ORDER ANNOUNCED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PHOENIX, Az., June 4, 2006 -- US Airways announced today that it will begin new daily roundtrip service to the West Coast from its hub in Charlotte, N.C. on January 1, 2007. US Airways is also pleased to announce a record aircraft order in conjunction with Piper Aircraft. US Airways has 200 firm orders, and 150 options, for the all new Piper J-3 Cub.

All West Coast service will operate using new Piper J-3 Cub aircraft. Flights will depart Charlotte each day at 8:30 a.m., and will arrive on the West Coast three days later.

"Our load factor over the past year on all West Coast flights has averaged about 98%," said Danielle L. McDonalds, US Airways vice president of planning and scheduling. "We feel that obtaining a 100% load factor is well within reach, we just need to find a better aircraft match for this service."

The new Piper aircraft will be placed at the Wholly-Owned carrier Piedmont Airlines. "The beauty of using the Piper Cub is two-fold. For one, as long as we can sell one seat we will have obtained our goal of a 100% load factor. Secondly, the crew cost is cut substantially. By requiring only one pilot we can immediately furlough half of our pilot group and, without the need of a flight attendant, 250 unnecessary jobs will be cut,” said Doug Pucker.

Although some skepticism exists, US Airways has formulated a very intricate plan to complete these flights in the shortest amount of time. With an initial fleet of 100 J-3’s spread across the country, along with multiple new pilot domiciles, the flights will operate seamlessly. For example, a Cub will depart Charlotte at 8:30 am and land in Memphis, Tennessee at 4:30 pm where the aircraft will be refueled and a pilot swap is conducted. Within minutes of landing in Memphis the aircraft will depart, with a fresh pilot at the controls, again for another 8-hour leg. This type of stop will occur only once more before reaching its’ West Coast destination.

San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego, and Phoenix will be the launch cities for US Airways latest strategy at remaining profitable. Once further aircraft are delivered more Western cities will be added.

US Airways is offering an introductory special of triple Dividend for travel between the West Coast and Charlotte. Passengers must register before departure at by calling 800-872-4738 and entering bonus request 8855. This offer may not be combined with other flight bonus offers. Retroactive mileage credit will not be given prior to registration. All Dividend Miles terms and conditions apply.

US Airways is the nation’s Fifth-largest airline, serving nearly 200 communities in the U.S., Canada, Europe, the Caribbean and Latin America. Most of its route network is concentrated in the eastern U.S., where it is the largest air carrier east of the Mississippi. US Airways, US Airways Shuttle and the US Airways Express partner carriers operate over 3,300 flights per day.
