Trial Over Flight Attendant's Alleged Racist Rhyme Starts
2 Women Say Rhyme Left Them Feeling Humiliated, Degraded

KANSAS CITY, Kan. --The Southwest Airlines flight from Las Vegas to Kansas City was waiting to depart, when flight attendant Jennifer Cundiff tried to jolly passengers out of the aisle.

Over the intercom, the Argyle, Texas, attendant announced: "Eenie, meenie, minie moe; pick a seat, we gotta go."

Two black sisters on the flight three years ago say the rhyme was racist, and left them humiliated and degraded. Their federal court lawsuit against the airline opened Tuesday in Kansas City.

Plaintiffs Louise Sawyer and Grace Fuller of Johnson County, Kan., say they suffered physical and emotional distress. Their lawyer told the eight-member jury the two were discriminated against -- even though the "n-word" sometime associated with the rhyme was not used.

Cundiff says she had no idea why the rhyme would have been considered racist. She says it was directed at all those who weren't seated, not just Sawyer and Fuller. And she says she'd used it before on other flights, in an attempt at humor.

Where is that thread on the virtues of trial lawyers?

The clowns that brought this case to court should be disbarred and forced to go kiss the feet of each and every SWA employee for causing them an inconvenience.

you have got to be friggin kiddin me, if the judge doesn't just throw this right out of court during the first minute....

people really need to get over themselves...

how do you get physical distress from a silly rhyme???

lets hope the judge reads the complaint file and laughs loudly followed by pointing his finger at these 'sensitive' women and saying
'get the heII out of my courtroom'

I hate people....

In my humble opinion, this had nothing to do with the women's "emotional distress". It was purely an idea of their's as to how to get rich quick by sueing deep pockets and the insurance the airline would carry. No doubt this activity, and other frivolous suits, have been encouraged by awards to people for spilling hot coffee in their lap, and then saying it was McDonalds fault.

When I was a child, I learned that "sticks and stones may break my bones, but names can never hurt me."

Now, kids no doubt can say "sticks and stones may break my bones, but names can give me a juicy settlement in court."

It's the "victim mentality."

This is domestic terrorism at its best.
