Aviation International News or AMT, I do not remember which one, use to publish pay scales for AMT by region for majors, corporate and GA.
I tried to put that scale to the HR dept. for the company I was working for and they about ran me out of the office for that, then I got a call from my manager. Heheheh...stirring up the pot. It was fun in those days.
After that the corporate told us that we were all getting paid fair marked value!!!!
And I thought that the comapny was telling all their customers that they had the best people in the industry.
Naw, just fair market mechanics.

I've done some research on the web getting these. Some of the rates have been through merely emailing employees of the airline and some have been picked straight off the contract. If anyone works at that airline and the payscale gets changed, they should post it on this thread.

JB tops at 32.47 now at 10 yrs. Start pay is 0-5 yrs part 121 $23, 5-10 yrs part 121 $24, 10+ yrs part 121 $25. I believe 2nd shift premium is .50, and 3rd is .65. $2 for lead, and $2 for Q.C. No liscense premiums, or rating premiums i.e. run / taxi, RII ect. Bases include, JFK, LGA, EWR, BOS, BUF, IAD, MCO, TPA, PBI, FLL, OAK, LGB.

Mech's at auto dealerships make more, have always made more, and will always make more than A&P's. Its not right, but life's not right either. If your life's goal is to make six figures, don't get into aviation.

Mech's don't dictate wages. Its what the market will bear. In GA, aviation is discretionary income to the aircraft owner. He needs his car, he doesn't need his airplane.
In air carriers, the unions are responsible. Employers are forced to keep inferior employees on when they can't or won't do a quality job. There's no margin for merit, only tenure.
