I had to rent a car last week to look for a crashpad and had a Travelocity reservation at Payless Car Rental. Got there about 8:30 at night and was told there were no cars available. My reservation meant nothing and they were pretty flippant about my complaints. They gave me a ride to Dollar (who were very helpful, but the walkup rate is high). I told them I was screwed by Payless and they said that I was the 5th person to say that today!

BEWARE!!!!

I'm not saying it's fair because it's not but car rental companies typically over sell to make sure the cars are rented by the end of the day. Also it may have been due to cars that are supposed to come back from being rented haven't been returned yet. I would compose a veery professional letter and send it to the headquarters explaining to them what happened and see if you can get a future deal.

Avoid Payless nationwide..the worst car rental company in the world.

Hertz is the best. Alamo usually has good rates.

Kind of like buying an airline ticket & getting left off the flight, huh!
