I am currently an FO for a decent (sic) regional. My grand plan was to upgrade and then apply to Netjets. I have 4500+ (1200 Lear) hours and no ATP.

Whoops, my upgrade class was cancelled.

I am thinking of paying ALLATPS to get my ATP so I can apply.

Other than the $2400+, would this be a bad idea given the current environment? Waste of time?

Is the stack 8000 applications thick at NJ now?

Need advice

Looks like an ATP is required:

To qualify as a NetJets Aviation, Inc. (Citation, Hawker, Falcon, Gulfstream 200, Boeing aircraft) pilot candidate you must have the following prerequisites:

  • Airline Transport Pilot Certificate (Multi-Engine Land)
  • Current FAA First Class Medical certificate
  • 2500 hours total pilot time
  • 500 hours fixed wing multi-engine time
  • 250 hours instrument time (actual or simulated in flight - excludes simulator time)
I'd say if you really want to go to Netjets, you need to get the ATP one way or the other. It's an investment in your future...

I'm not on the hiring committee but this job is highly desirable and the competition is fierce. I can't imagine that they would hire or even consider someone without an ATP. THe cost to get an ATP is small and it only takes a few days.

It's in our contract with our share owners that all our pilots are ATPs and fully type-rated in the aircraft they fly. NJ will take care of the type, but the ATP is a prerequisite that they won't negotiate.

I'd probably go do the ATP.

The way the industry is, you're going to need it anyway. Good luck.
