Aaahhh...another P/T job question. Hmmm...I dunno, how about dog-catcher, monkey trainer, or the guy that picks up all the trash after the carnival leaves town.

Pizza Delivery was fun, made descent base money, took home cash every night and generally kept out of the restaurant and on the road. They were also very flexible. And they are almost always hiring. Good parttime job.

I work a P/T job as a lineguy at a local FBO. The paycheck is decent and the contacts you make are top-notch. I happen to be rather lucky in that my flying is only during the week.

Male prostitute?

If you have ever played any sports look into officiating/umpiring. As a flight instructor I could supplement my income by about $750/month by reffing ice hockey. If I really worked it I could easily make a grand extra per month. Hard work but without the extra cash I would have been pressed to pay my monthly bills.
I still do it today but not as often. I enjoy officiating hockey much more now that the extra income can go to beer and strippers and not rent or groceries.

Its a sad state of affairs when an airline pilot needs to deliver pizzas to survive...as I recall, I delivered pizza before I had a HS deploma, a college degree, and my ATP...Hmmmm...maybe that is why I quit the biz and got a real job.

Dive instructor? Deep sea fishing boat captain? Bar guitar player?

sorry... what was that again? Distracted by PGCFII2002's avatar. I love skinny chicks! :)

Even more amusing, I have several part-time jobs I do as a new-hire F/O at a "Major". 1st year pay of $40k with a wife and 2 kids doesn't cut it.

1. Real Estate - not so great anymore
2. eBay sales - buying and selling on eBay is pretty easy, especially if you're willing to take a trip or two overseas (Hong Kong), make some contacts, then import and sell. Easy $1,000 to $2,000 a month after your overhead of other people doing all the real work is paid. Bad news - pay taxes on it or get easily busted (bank records).
3. Car repair. No sh*t. I've been buying, fixing, and selling Mitsubishi 3000GT's and Dodge Stealth's for about 4 years now. It's a fun hobby (relaxing to wrench on stuff), I do it on my own schedule in my garage at home, it keeps me in free commuter cars, and makes me about $2k extra a month. $3k if I bust my butt and, best of all, it's not taxed and very little chance of getting discovered by the IRS, all transactions are cash.

Find you something you like to do as a hobby then find a way to make money at it. Best way to do it.

And yes, "Male Prostitute" does seem to fit that generalization, but my wife probably wouldn't approve. :D

Hey John, not all of us live in an ocean paradise (or anywhere near it).

Either of those first two options though sounds great. Was just in St. Thomas diving last week and the guys and gals running the dive operation didn't seem very stressed-out at all...

By the way, where is the cheapest deep-sea fishing charter where they let you keep at least 1 or 2 fish you catch?

Donated blood for 15.00 bucks a pop to get to work for a week. Fresh cookies and punch comes with it as a bonus.

I agree find something you may have done in the past like sports and become a coach/official.

If you live in base and bid reserve it works great. I coach rowing and give private lessons for 75 bucks an hour. My check last week was 200 more than the good ole airline pay check. Pathetic.

G'luck.

If you are suprised by this, do some more research before becoming a regional pilot. It DONT pay too good

I have, and the salaries I've seen posted for RJ Captains, while not enough for the job, is not 'bad' money; at least not for needing a second job. RJ Captains are making no less than a majority of Americans in other careers.
