You would not belive how many ELT batteries are expired in aircraft needing to be ferried? way to many! It's good for me as I get paid to sit while waiting for a battery some times it's fun to try and find a wrench to install it if I arrive on a weekend or have to pick up in the middle of the boonies! It's Even more fun when the IA writes the annual entry signs and forgets his cert number etc. thats another subject.

Me: Call Client Are you Sure You had a Pre buy Done?, Did you Review the Logbooks? Elt Has Been Expired for about 4 months now! According to the logs it Expired 2 months after last annual was preformed?
Client: Have it replaced do what ever needs to be done.

Client: Upon delivery of the airplane they complain about the $75.00 battery install? and Quote Part 43 (24) Replacing and servicing batteries. They also Complained that the new battery ordered did not expire Sept-Aug 2009 but May 2009.
Me: The local Wrench don't work for free his time is money a Min 1 hour shop time he did have to stop working on what he was working on to do the replacement. Local wrench Also noted installed ELT battery's date did not match last log book entry battery was about 3 years old. About the battery being old/used Told him what the supply house sent it's been on their shelf since May/June factory new sealed and OK provided invoice old battery showed him the log's.

Transponder inspection had less than 15 days to go. Looks like tweekers did work on the interior we will leave the description as late 70's Camaro tee shirt/flannel seat covers over ripped vinyl/cloth. Instrument numbers and marking faded by age/sun with color stickers on airspeed ind. Last log book showed 3 firewall replacements and some water damage in last 10 years and New Paint probably hiding corrosion. Seemed to fly straight hands free 1qt 5 hours oil burn in the timed out engine 300 since top.

I ended up paying for the 12 pack of cold one's as I took all his cash he even shorted me $30!!! His credit cards seemed maxed I noticed this as he was paying for my return airline ticket. I hooked up my blackjack Cingular 3g service to laptop to save time did not want to ride in a car "A Old Geo Metro" with this guy he had Hygiene issues. I was starting sweat a bit as he tried 3 different cards on 4th one he got it approved.

I Thank the aliens that guy has not spawned any offspring "well he did not mention he had any in his sob story" he also drove home after 6 cold ones I declined his all so kind offer to drive me to the hotel I took the hotel shuttle from the airport kind local FBO got me a hotel discount also $35.00 with a free ride!
