Does anyone use PDA's or laptops for GOM, GPM, or AOM? How about electronic Jepps? What type of hardware do you use and what does it cost?

Hello,
I don't know which issue i saw it in, but "Professional Pilot" had an excellent article on EFBs (Electronic Flight Bag). The article discussed the various hardware/software thats available and being tested. Apparently, a couple of 135 outfits are FAA test platforms for the implementation of EFBs.

There was an article in a recent AOPA pilot about this. AOPA online members link

From what I remember, unless you spend some serious $$$$ (like over $5000) the feds require paper backups. There are different certification levels that indirectly relate to the cost of the system. I am thinking about doing something like this for my GA flying and just using a set of NOS charts as the backup.

We have 4 code shares now and my flight bag is full. If we could put something on pda or electronic note pad life could be much better. How about JB don't they have lap tops for this?
