DORAL, Fla. (WSVN) -- A cargo plane has dropped a large panel in the parking lot of Miami International Mall, according to the FAA.

No one was injured and the Boeing 747, an Atlas Air cargo plane from Santiago, Chile, according to the FAA, landed safely at Miami International Airport, Friday, at around 12:30 p.m.

The parking lot at Miami International Mall was mostly empty when the large piece of the plane fell among the parking spaces with no cars or pedestrians in the area. This object landed in the southeast corner of the mall, outside the Dillard's Department Store, off of Northwest 107th Avenue and the 836 expressway.

The FAA said the plane was on its final approach to Runway 9 when somehow this panel, about the size of a large sedan, came off.
Doral Police and Florida Highway Patrol responded and blocked off the object with security tape.

Airplanes fly over this parking lot on their way into MIA constantly. It remains unknown what exactly caused this item to come loose and plummet to the ground.
Looks like a Flap Canoe, good thing it only the ground, could have been a bad day otherwise!!
You never see parts fall off of Polar's Planes. LOL!
They had to make Max landing weight somehow.
What's the big deal? You can CDL that item anyway, but be prepared for umm, substantially higher fuel flows enroute, (have experienced this firsthand).

From the pix it still looks to be in good shape. Bondo it, tag that puppy and throw it back on the aircraft!

If you can't do that, then sell it on ebay for use as the nomenclature defines it; "canoe". Maybe after it's sold we can see it on youtube shooting the rapids on the mighty Colorado River!
