I am looking for any feedback on Panam Flight Academy. I am attending the Phoenix campus in November. I have my Private, Instrument, CPL-SE. How are they doing for hiring instructors after completing their program? I'm a little nervous about spending $8000 for their CRM program, which includes flying their CRJ simulator, and then not being hired as an instructor. Any comments from graduates about Panam, the CRM program, and instructing at this school would be appreciated. How is the job placement?

Shell out 3 grand more and do the PACE program at MAPD. If you complete it, you get a guaranteed interview and preferential hiring at Mesa. No need to worry about getting picked up by Pan Am as a CFI, you can worry about getting picked up as a CRJ FO by Mesa instead. Course if you blow the MEsa interview, you're a low-timer w/o a CFI, so you'll be almost back where you started.

Mesa might not pay as well as CMR, but with the new US and UA contracts, they'll definately have grouth for the next couple years if they can manage it (a big 'if'). Nothing says job security like growth (or poor negotiations like Mesa MEC)!

I have not seen a single CFI not get hired here in the six monthes that I have worked here. It is a legitimate concern, but I have not personally seen it materalize for anybody. Stephanie (placement coordinator) is the real deal and I believe she works very hard in the placement of students (trust me, I am one of em.) Good luck.

Thanks for the feedback. I know it's slow right now, and I don't mind waiting a couple months to instruct after I complete the program - just not 6-12 months which is what I'm hearing. That may just be at the FPR campus. My wife and I are quitting our jobs and moving to Phoenix in November - just don't want to sit on my hands for a long time and have to move again if there is no chance on building hours at the school. Sounds like you're a student. How's life down there? What is the ACE program like?

Just remember that because they do hire virtually everyone who pays the $ PAIFA @ DVT is over staffed about 200%. Many people get hired, wait a few weeks for there first student then spend some time flying very very little. Hiring everyone is only good when there are three new students fo every new hire. I doubt we're even running a 1 to 1 ratio now. They do get there grads jobs though.
