I agree with Joe. I started my flight training at Pan Am many moons ago, and it didnt take me very long to realize what it was all about. I quickly left while I still had enough money in the bank to finish up my flight training elsewhere.
I know several students that spent in between $15,000 - $20,000 JUST for their Private rating! Hardly ANYone finishes the PPL in under 100 hours! And these guys were above average intelligence, and they seemed squared away when I flew with them. It's not a personal pilots ability that hinders him as much as the way the program is structured, that takes one so long to finish a rating.
Plus, getting charged half hour briefing BEFORE and AFTER a flight when in reality you never see a minute of briefing time, that starts to burn a hole in the pocket after while! Nothing but a money farm.
