Whats up with Pan Am...heard they just furloughed crews, parked planes and layed off most of the maintence personnel.
just saw their website is not working either??

not a good sign I assume..

are they still taking delivery of the 20 UA 727's??

Thanks for the info anyone..

Lets see the people that bought the assets back in 99 had no airline experience to begin with, there only experience was running railroads. They have people in their that dont now what they are doing or dont have the balls to speak up. The company does not follow guide lines in the fars they have fired pilots for notwanting to work over the 16 hour duty day, and the feds have not protected the pilots for taking a stand against violating the rule. i would stay away from that place !

The SunSentinel had a report a few days ago saying that the operations at Sanford were being cutback to the original service pattern, eliminating the intra-Florida trips & SFB-EWR. That can't be good.

The USA Today ran an article today that said they were cutting back so they can afford to expand as planned.... Makes a lot of sense huh???

If You Love Pain, Then Go For It !!

Affirm, Affirm, Affirm, Affirm......

Anyone even remotely considering ANY position with Pan Am should see a med. JUST DON'T DO IT !!!!

Fink is scum. Monk (scab) is scum. Fortnam is scum.

And do not even think about Boston-Maine Airways or Pan American World Airways. These are the alter-egos of Pan American Airways, Corp. Yes, they have no clue on how to run an airline. Trust me. I know!

Have a nice day.

WARNING ......WARNING......

IF YOU WANT TO KEEP YOUR NAME OFF THE NATIONAL SCAB LIST DONT EVEN THINK OF INTERVIEWING OR TAKING A JOB WITH BMA.

Not suprising they are in trouble. Expensive airplanes to operate, low frequency into unknown (to the traveling public) alternative airports. Targeting the leisure traveller. Not a good combination.

IMHO they should have gone with 737/DC-9s and high frequency between key business markets (using known alternative airports - ie. Midway, Manchester, Islip etc) to have a chance.

Is there a strike going on that I don't know about? Or is this another misdirected application of a specific word?

Anything's Possible...

Currently, there is no strike. It would not be very affective this time of the year. Busy season? You never know.

Individuals are being laid off illegaly. The contract has no meaning to the company in that they have rarely followed its terms and conditions.

Would a strike during an appropriate timeframe be effective? I do not know, but I guess you never know until you try. What really needs to happen is to start harassing (media, etc...) Guilford Transportation. This is the backbone operation of David Fink. Get everyone to walk off their jobs there, then Fink may have a coronary, which is long overdue.

Fink and oh yeah, lets not forget Mr. Tim Mellon, own the FAA, congressmen and any other high official that may have an interest. But how do you put an end to it?

There is also another thread running on this subject in the "Aviation Interview Boards" "General Section"

Listen to frank rizzo. He speaks the truth!
