I see over on airliners.net that some are saying that Pan Am up in NH shut down the 727 operation today. Anyone have any info?

I thought they shut down in 1991.
 
The legendary Pan Am carrier did close down after bankruptsy in 1991, but another entity aquired the name rights and now operate under the name.

I'm not for sure there size, but they fly 727's, some Jetstreams, and have a few limited routes.

Pan Am files response to court ruling

PORTSMOUTH — Pan Am has filed its response to a U.S. District Court magistrate’s ruling in a dispute over Pan Am’s firing of union officers.
The Airline Pilots Association International, which is the union representing the pilots and flight crew at Pease Airport, had sued the airline’s parent company, Guilford Transportation, in September. They say Guilford officials violated federal labor laws by firing union officers, ignoring the grievance process and shifting Pan Am operations to Boston-Maine Airways.
The union has claimed Guilford laid of Pan Am employees and shut down routes or flights, while expanding Boston-Maine service to take over routes previously flown by Pan Am.
Guilford Transportation has contended the Pan Am and Boston-Maine airlines are completely separate. However, U.S. District Court Magistrate James R. Muirhead said there are connections between the two airlines including a joint reservation system and route map on the Boston-Maine Web site showing both service.
Guilford’s attorney had also said Pan Am was closing up shop at Pease as of Oct. 31, something company officials later denied.
U.S. District Court Judge Joseph DiClerico had issued an order last Monday stating the unionized Pan Am airline should restore the pay rates and working conditions of its pilots and flight crews. DiClerico also said Pan Am should refrain from using its nonunion subsidiary, Boston-Maine Airways, to conduct Pan Am flight operations.
He also had set a deadline of Thursday to respond to the magistrate’s report.
"People are filing briefs in accordance with the deadline that the court set up and other than that we don’t have anything to comment on it," said John Nadolny, senior counsel for Pan Am.
The next step is for the court to review the briefs, he said.
Regarding rumors Pan Am would be closing up shop as of Oct. 31 and moving operations to Boston-Maine Airways, Nadolny would only say "we’ve got a nice big building here."
Airline Pilots Association did not return a call seeking comment.

Pan Am did shut down Nov. 1. All ALPA pilots on the PAA seniority list were issued letters of furlough. The Flight Attendants were issued letters of termination. With regards to the BMA crews, I do not know.

There is a court hearing on Friday Nov. 5th in Concord, NH regarding the contempt of court by Guiford (the owners of PAA and BMA). There are many issues to be decided in court and time will tell. Read other posts in the regional board that deal with PAA and BMA.
 
Aren't these the same group of guys who, despite repeated court orders, refused to re-instate a fired captain? It was over crew rest, in which the captain was ruled to be right. I believe it took an order from the judge for the senior management and owners to appear in court and face jail time for contempt for them to finally re-instate the pilot.


They sound like first class people.

After d i c k stein over at delta does what he did at western..... heck he'll hire one of these idiots to become the new CEO of delta. AND he'll stay on the board till he has to be put in a home...... Golden parachute anyone?????

Wow, that's a huge story. It'll be interesting to see how ALPA national responds. That's a torpedo shot right at their rudder.
