So here's this article about how major airline pilots are among the most "overpaid" individuals in the country. Just makes my blood boil after all this post 9-11 stuff that so many have sacrificed so much for. The article also says that you can make from $70k to $100k per year helping people check their bags curbside. Unreal...

I wonder why aren't blogging internet know-it-all journalists on his list?

While American and United pilots recently took pay cuts, senior captains earn as much as $250,000 a year at Delta, and their counterparts at other major airlines still earn about $150,000 to $215,000 - several times pilot pay at regional carriers - for a job that technology has made almost fully automated.
By comparison, senior pilots make up to 40 percent less at low-fare carriers like Jet Blue and Southwest, though some enjoy favorable perks like stock options. That helps explain why their employers are profitable while several of the majors are still teetering on the brink of bankruptcy.
He failed to mention that Southwest pilots are the highest paid on the 737. Higher than Delta's . Oops. Moron bigmouth.

We should all email this dolt.

The date of the article I believe is NOV 2003.

ouch John.....

So much anger...so much hate.... remember what Yoda said...

I especially like this line here:

"The pilot's unions are the most powerful in the industry."

Maybe the most powerful in the airline industry but that's not saying much. Compared to just about any other union out there, we are the weakest. Does it bother anyone else that our negotiations are governed by something with the word "Railroad" in the title?

Dude, 2003? Now I'm gonna have to beat the wife to vent the anger.

I wouldn't get too excited about it. Aside from the aforementioned date of the article, it's pretty obvious that the moron who wrote it is a clueless twit.

He didn't spare criticism for anyone on the list and made some really unintelligent statements when describing each of their "worlds."

There are those on this board that act and say the same thing, and for the same result-- To get a rise out of you. He gets paid for getting people to read what he has to say- easiest way to do that is to be controversial.

I stopped caring a long time ago what others OUTSIDE of this profession think about what I do and what I'm worth. B/c in the end-- they get jealous, they get mad at us- especially during negotiations or work action-- But they don't RESPECT anything other than WINNING THE NEGOTIATION. Do you think anyone outside of flying cares about what's happened to this career? NO- if they think at all,- which they don't- they think we're stupid for letting it happen.

Don't email that guy or visit his article website. He'll just get paid more money and you won't change his mind...

Yeah I apologize that it wasn't the most timely of articles but I found it by clicking on a link from the yahoo front page news...I guess I should have checked beforehand. But you were probably going to beat the wife anyway right? No harm no foul. :)
