Looking for input on what pilot opinions are on the likelihood that Flight Crew jobs will be outsourced to China and India. Many other knowledge skilled jobs are being outsourced to China and India such as engineering, programming, accounting, medicine, law, etc.

What is to stop US Airlines from bringing in pilots from other countries who will work for less than half the wages of US pilots?

Will FAA regulations be set up to block outsourcing for security reasons?

They don't have the experience for these positions. US (and other) pilots are working in those countries now since they have the needed backgrounds.

It wonuldn't work same since when a company moves an operation to say china, technically it isnt removing a job from an american, where if a immigrant comes here it would be taking a job from an american. For an immigrant to take a job from an american the comapny has to show proof that no americans wanted the job, then a work visa could be issued. Which wouldn't happen since there are many trained american pilots. Also FAA has nothing to do with it. I think INS handles this.

Certification. Its the same reason that American pilots aren't flocking to Europe to find jobs. You'd have to get your certificates changed over to JAA.

Uh, your kidding us, right?

I've never tried it, but it seems very difficult to fly a B767 from BOS to LAX when you are stuck sitting in an office in New Delhi.

It's coming...Just a matter of time. It's called cabotage, part of the eight freedoms of the air. (Do a web search on the Chicago convention on international Civil Aviation-1944) We currently operate under the 5 freedoms, but if the republicans get their way, the rest are coming. There are LCC's springing up throughout Asia. (search "Jet Air") They won't be applying at United or American...Their airlines will be flying here.

Bingo!!

It amazes me how many people overlook this little tidbit. It won't be foreign pilots flying for US companies, it will be foreign pilots flying for foreign airlines within our country. And if you think it won't happen in the name of "national security" or the inability to do backround checks on these people, you are in extreme denial. It's all about the $$$.

You have got to get your representatives to say no to cabotage.
