Orlando base for Jetblue?

I have heard many rumors that Jetblue is going to open a pilot base in MCO to compliment the new maintenance hanger being built there. The rumors also state that it would be the EMB190 pilot base. Any of you Jetblue pilots heard the same thing?

From David Neeleman himself, "I don't know why everyone's moving to Orlando?" There might be a chance that it could emerge as a "dynamic" base, but DC and OAK are front-runners on that. If BOS will have 11 gates eventually, 1 less than what we operate 200+ flights out of JFK now, that would be the most likely candidate for the next crew base... Until there is a city like DC served out of MCO, you can't fly west from there-- only up and down the coast to JFK and BOS... It would make for a very small base...

How senior is FLL these days?

FLL is VERY senior for captains and so so for F/Os. In last few classes, some F/Os got their very first choice to FLL due to upgrades-- who usually end up at JFK due to their seniority. Therefor, there is constant turnover in the F/O ranks down in FLL.

I wouldn't sell my home and move to MCO if you are banking on a JB domicile there in the "near" future. Near meaning next year or year and a half. But, MCO is a very nice area regardless of whether or not you are based there. JB has a large contingent of pilots there and makes for a kinda tough commute to JFK, even on JB online.

But, life could be worse. You could be unemployed!!
