What happened - was WX that bad?

A ton of flights cancelled / delayed, including mine to IND. Customer service said I could get to IND on the next available flight with a open seat - July 30.
 
Don't worry. AA bought TWA to "alleviate pressure on ORD". I'm sure it will begin to flow shortly.
