We are planning a trip next month to Easter Island (South Pacific) in a GV. Our routing takes us overhead Galapagos and then through an area designated on the SA 8 High chart as "No FIR". This area covers about 700 miles of our route between Guayaquil FIR and Pascua FIR. They do give New York Radio HF freq's. Has anyone flown in this area? What proceedures are used when operation through this airspace?

I have looked and have not found anything. Not sure exactly how I would look it up as there does not seem to be a section in air traffic control for "no FIR". Any ideas... Anyone?

Use the following link for contact information for Dave Stohr @ Air Training International. He sholuld be able to give you a good detailed briefing. Dave has probably flown into just about every country in the world and he knows his stuff.
