Has anyone else noticed how movies tend to be released in common-genre pairs? And for each pair, there's one movie that's really well done, and one that sucks?

Dinosaurs: Jurassic Park (good), Carnosaur (bad)

Danger from space: Deep Impact (good), Armageddon (bad)

Killer weather: Twister (okay), Night of the Twisters (unwatchable)

Well late last year, Hollywood went on a "Hauntings-at-Sea" kick and spat out two movies, both of which are out on DVD now, and I thought I'd give y'all a head's-up.

Ghost Ship: if you're into gore and a shallow story line, go for it. Otherwise, don't waste your time. It really sucks. Really! (I want my $3 back...)

Below: a story of conspiracy and betrayal aboard a U.S.N. attack submarine in 1943. One of the best movies I've ever seen. You won't be disappointed.

Well, I'm a bit out of the loop as of late.

I was watching Crimsom Tide today, well about 15 mins of the middle of it waiting for our plane to show up, and it was really starting to get good........please don't post the ending.

The butler did it.

You know, it's so typical too, it's always the butler.

But what the butler did is still a mystery to me.

Crimson tide, isn't that the one about the submarine with Denzel Washington as the XO?

If it is, it was the butler.

Pay per view.

However, I bought Below on DVD...it's that good.

By the way, Crimson Tide rocks, too! I want to be Denzel Washington when I grow up. (It'll take a lot of makeup, though...) He and Gene Hackman made that movie a teriffic CRM model. How'd you like to fly with that guy? "I'm the captain here, I've made my decision, now shut the f__k up!"

Are you crazy? Or did you just reverse the order accidentaly. Armageddon was pretty darn good. Deep Impact was pathetic.

Armageddon was the worst movie I ever saw. I was hoping they would all die because I couldn't stand to watch them anymore. Not to mention how far-fetched and absurd the plot is. Deep Impact was so much better you can't even compare them.

Not to meantion that Robert Duvall can kick Bruce Willis's as_ any day of the week. Remember, no matter what role he plays, he's still the guy who said "I love the smell of napalm in the morning..."

I never saw Deep Impact but its kind of hard to beat the Armegeddon scene where they are hitting golf balls at the Greenpeace hippies....
