I know this has been brought up before in the context of a national union but how about this.
Since a lot of us are all beginning negotiations why dont we stick to our guns and have a said pay rate for each pax seat or each type of aircraft. Ilike the per pax better especially for the commuter guys. I know rigs will tilt the numbers some, but if we were all in the same ballpark they(management) would have less ammunition to f--k with us. What do you think?

I think we should just get the government to pass a law that says we each get paid $500,000 per year.

Same difference.

Maybe we could have signing bonuses like in the NFL or MLB. If you sign in the summer, you get a 1.3 million signing bonus. As long as you haven't been in a gang or sold drugs, you get another 750,000 signing bonus. If you pass all your drug tests (i.e. - no steroids found in your urine), that's another 500,000 for 10 years.

Then we could get incentives - like everytime you tell a stupid joke from the flight deck and at least one person laughs in 1st class - that's 10 grand a pop. Everytime you tell an F/A (female of course) she has nice hair - there's 20 grand.

Of course we can't forget all the trade clauses. If FDX wanted to trade you for SWA, SWA would have to buy your contract out...we could call it the "Clemens" clause. Maybe something like 5.7 million over the next 5 years.

And of course don't forget all the groupies that come to your parties (we could have Instructordude give us some sweet lines on how to impress chicks as an airline pilot. He's been honing his skills at the local airport Starbucks and high schools...), making your own Rap record, and sponsors (like wearing Nike epaulets or a Nike tie) while you're daydreaming with the autopilot on at 35K.

OK - back to reality. Different pay rates = capitolism = USA. That's why we have the strongest economy in the world and the ability to choose what job we want. Economics 101 my friend.

Trust me guy I do pretty good with my lines. If you need any help you know where the PM feature is at. You've flown the fighting falcon so it't gotta be pretty easy.

My theme is dreaming at 35 thousand making 35 thousand yeahhhh baby life is good!!

It worked for the UAW in the 60's, and 70's, No matter where you worked the pay was the same. Then came the Chry almost bankrupt, then came all those non-union non-big three plants, and finally UAW membership is at less than 1/2 of peak back in the 70's and concessions are the talk of the town in order to keep your job. Probably work the same way in any other business.
