I have an interview with Ameriflight in Burbank I was woundering if any has advice for there "one-of-a-kind Chieftain simulator" What does it have two VOR's, HSI, RMI, fixed card, ect...

Thanks

HSI and VOR, ADF (moveable card I think), and DME. Its an exact replica of a later model chieftain. It is stable, but very fast compared to a real chieftain. You'll fly takeoff, DP, an ILS and a missed with a hold. No failures or emergencies. They give you the checklists and power setting/speeds. Pretty easy if you're current. Don't forget the required atc reports. Good luck.

Ditto on the gear handle.

Make sure you move it FULLY to the position you want. It is possible to get the handle past the metal detent that protrudes from the panel next to the handle, but still not move the handle to the full excursion of its travel.

Have fun. The Chieftain is a good airplane.

If it is just like a Navajo, when you put the flaps down give it about three seconds of nose-down electric trim.

Chief

if they dont give you a specific power setting use 25 inches mp and 2400 rpm, that will keepyou around 160 kts and give you some extra time to keep yourself situationally aware.

having just gone through the sim from hell sessions

20" at 2400 rpm will give you 120 kts on the ils gear down at the FAF, no flaps.

26" at 2400 rpm will give you 120kts on a np gear down between step down fixes, no flaps, with 12" for the np descent, make sure you get the power back to 26" while you are pitching.

30" at 2300 rpm gives you cruise of about 160kts

if you like, 24" at 2200 rpm gives you 140kts, for cruise, which is what I'd recommend for the short legs.

Have fun.. good luck.

Good 'ol stage cooling. It's much easier to set power on the sim than in the plane. Set it and it's there, unlike the plane where u set it and it's all over the dial.
