First off, thanks to everyone who has provided me with some great insight into XJ. Here's one last question ( I hope ) before I hope to have the insider connections to all my other questions.

If a guy bids and holds the CA seat, what is the seatlock?

Example: Saab 340 FO bids Saab CA. Attrition one year from now causes a CRJ CA vacancy - but the Saab FO who is now Saab CA cannot bid (presumably because he is seat locked for 1 year). Junior guy who shouldn't be able to CRJ CA gets awarded the seat.

Is my example above correct? OR, are there no seat lock provisions causing the Saab FO who is now a Saab CA to be able to bid CRJ CA?

Thanks alot! I really appreciate the insight.

12 months unless you bid to a lower paying position - then it's 24 months.

Seat locks can cause a junior pilot to get a higher paying position.

The locks are gone if they would cause street captains, or if the company just feels like it.

Good luck!

Actually thanks to the bankruptcy the Captain seat lock is also 24 months... so upgrade wisely.

Yeah, I was looking for that, but I didn't find it. I thought 12 months was too easy. It must be in one of the LOAs or something.

On another thread, I read that starting in 2008, the Captain seat lock is 12 months. Is that not correct?

How is the bidding going right now at XJ. I'm sure there is alot of movement right now. Is attrition still high or thought to be high in the future (especially with most everyone hiring)?

Thanks!

I think that attrition has slowed down a little since there has been a little bit of calm after the storm. I think I have been moving up four or five on every new seniority list that is posted (about once a month). I have flown with a few captains that have been hired at Southwest and are just waiting for class dates. I know there is a handfull more with interviews in July.

Right now surprisingly MSP has been going pretty junior for Saab captain, DTW is the most junior. They are just starting to fill vacancies for DTW CRJ captains which will cause DTW to easily be the most junior Saab Captain base in the near future. Now that summer is winding down I would imagine more senior F.O's to take the leap over to the left seat. But who knows, some guys might be waiting to hold the CRJ. Its all a guessing game.

If that is part of our snapback to the old contract then it would go back to 12 months but I don't think it is... I'd have to look in the parts of the contract amended because of the "travishamkuptcy" As of today any change in seat or airplane comes with 24 month seat lock from completion of training. (for new hires it's 3 years from date of hire without a chance to upgrade to switch planes as FO, does not apply to take first upgrade)
