One person died of a heart attack and 114 were injured after a Colombian airliner was hit by lightning and crash-landed at the airport on the Caribbean island of San Andres, El Tiempo reports. The Aires Boeing 737 broke into three pieces, the newspaper says.
The plane was carrying at least 121 passengers and six crew members, El Tiempo reports. The BBC, however, says there were 131 people aboard.
The newspaper says the pilot reported that the plane, which was arriving from Bogota, was about 80 yards from the head of the runaway when the lightning struck.

80 yards from the end of the runway getting hit by lightning his priority is to call the tower and report it? I don't think so. Lets wait for some real information.

It doesn't say that anywhere in the articles I've read. One says that the pilot reported that at 80m, the aircraft was struck. Another says that police reported that at 80m, the aircraft was struck.

Neither say at 80m, the pilot reported be struck.

Let's see...

The jet was landing in heavy rain and it crashed because of lightning. Riiiiiiiiiiight.

Can you say windshear or microburst? Good. I knew you could.
