Mini, do you have access to any senior flight instructors, FAA guys, etc at your flight school that may be able to shed some light on this?
(I'm surrounded by Canadians, so that won't work for me...)

Yeah, we've got a few people I can ask. We've got a DPE for a Chief pilot and the DO is very very knowledgable. I'll shoot off a question next time I'm scheduled. (So you should know by next December some time )
