When on the road, duty off at the airport upon leaving, or upon reaching the hotel? We just had a change in policy from the latter to the former. Curious how other companies are doing it.

Travel that is local in nature is not duty

Travel that is local in nature (whatever that is) is considered part of crew rest by regulation, therefore it is not duty. If you have to wait an hour's drive to get to the hotel, then that is most likely not local in nature and could not be considered rest.

And you get paid mega bucks in overtime for that hour ride to the hotel if you've been working more than 14 hours.
